First off, I was accepting the fact that they gave Ron Weasley the screaming power. That's fine, I guess he could do some damage with that... But then they decided he could fly like that? Using echolocation as they called it....? Stupid is what I call it. Echolocation does nothing to keep you in the air besides not hitting things. (Plus the CGI animation for his screaming was crap)
Then there was that chick with the wings. At first I was thinking ok cool she can sprout wings out of her back. Sweet. But then that whole scene where her and bat-boy are flying around and she's spitting crap at him was just terribly done. That whole scene was a joke.
I disagree. They Banshee power emits a sound wave (which is a physical thing), so it makes a weird sort of sense that he could use it to help glide (although not fly). The flying squirrel suits and stuff IRL are very similar, aside from the screaming power. And the chick with the wings, they explain all of her powers when they're all sitting around drinking and showing off. I mean, there's a reason you don't see them in other X-Men movies and stuff, the powers aren't exactly the most impressive things.
I thought the CGI was rather tasty, too, imo. I was only really disappointed that Mystique played such a small role in this movie. She's so badass in the others.

X-Men: First Class is my new favorite X-Men movie. I agree with Ryjacork that Prof X being all wise and #$%^ the whole way through is kinda lame, but if you could read minds your whole life, you'd probably pick that up pretty quickly. I mean, he did do a lot of drinking and stuff like your average college kid.
I just saw that this weekend, it was pretty good. I liked the story line and the main characters, but I could not stand some of those stupid powers they put in there.

I like Prof. X and Magneto.
Michael Fassbender
is a good actor, I think him and
James McAvoy
did a lot to make it a worthwhile watch.
Banshee was an old school x-man. Regardless of whether or not his powers were realistic (most superpowers aren't), he is canon and his ability to fly using sound waves comes from the comics.
I liked the new movie- I like all of the new x-man movies. I had to explain to boyfriend how none of this storyline is canon or has anything to do with the comics, though. It's what I get for dating younger men.

I loved Kick-Ass too. I wasn't expecting much at first, but when he gets beat nearly to death and hit by the car, I was like OMG!
Hit-Girl, 'nuff said. :P

There's no way they could be brothers, timeline-wise, in the movie. They're taking poetic license- maybe they'll say it was Scott's father, or something.
The thing with converting X-men to the movies, is that they have almost 50 years worth of storyline and characters to work with, and they've done a number of spin-off X-men universes, with different realities for the same characters. They're trying to take all of that and then make a movie with all of the fan favorites, which will tell a good story in a 2-hour period of time. And without taking into account all of the plot twists that involve aliens, magic, the gods, etc. that exist in the standard Marvel universe. Don't expect to find any continuity between the movies and the comic books.

ElhonnaDS speaks the truth about pretty much everything. Banshee's powers and flying/gliding, the non-canonical aspects of movies vs. comics, the differing Marvel universes.
I know it was in the original comic, I just didn't care for it and how it was shown in the movie. The CGI was pretty good in most of the movie, just the flying scenes with Banshee and Angel were pretty terrible.

As somone els said Banshee can fly in the comics, it dosnt matter if it makes sence, its cannon. Most super hero movies dont make sence.

At least it wasn't as bad as most of the CGI in Origins: Wolverine. They just slapped some MSPaint on that #$%^ because the movie had leaked so early.

Lol and aparently being shot in the head with an adamantium bullet is surgical enough to wipe all the memories of your time as a goverment assasin.

I didn't end up seeing X Men last night; but I think I'm going on wednesday instead now. I wish that Hollywood would make their mind up about how old Emma Frost is though... seeing as she was like, 14 in
Wolverine
and is an adult in
Origins
, which is based
before
Wolverine
. Unless there's some other girl who can turn into diamond form that I'm unaware of. >.>

You can't treat a comic book movie the same as any other genre, in terms of expectations of realism, because comic books are a ridiculous medium, and they don't even take themselves seriously. It is perfectly acceptable, in a comic book, for an alien, a god, a magician, 2 mutants and a talking chihuahua to take a magic submarine to hell, to look for the spirit of Atilla the Hun who has a prototype lazer gun, that they will use to save the planet from a giant robot octopus who is destroying the earth to harvest all of our deposits of rose quartz and stockpiles of jelly beans. They have storylines that last for 50 years, and no one ever ages. They kill the same villains over and over again, and they never stay dead. And whenever they feel like they painted themselves into a corner, they get to take the same characters and start over- either it's an alternate reality, or someone messed up the space-time continuim, or someone made a wish on a magic lamp, or...something.

She was whatsherface (the throwaway character who ends up tricking Wolverine into loving her and then falling in love with him for real)'s younger sister in
X Men Origins: Wolverine
.
Edit:
Here.
She's also
named
as
Emma Frost
... I hope Cyclops'

Thats what they get for trying to cram as many mutants as they can into the movies for a dozen little cameo rolls, same thing they did in Xmen 3. They fixed that in this movie though, they kept the major mutants to the main caste and each characture got their deserved ammount of screen time and devopment.
And aparently shes silver foxes sister who has the Benjamin Button condition >.<

X Men 3 wasn't as bad for it as Wolverine was though, in my opinion. I
hated
Kitty in it (trying to steal Rogue's man? Nuh-uh, that's not cool you lil' skank) but yeah, it wasn't terrible. Archangel annoyed me too, because he did
absolutely nothing
. Other than that, it was alright. :P

Lol, you guys are hilarious sometimes. As I said above, I know Banshee could fly in the original comic book, I just didn't like how it was shown in the movie, they could have done much better.
Also, I am perfectly aware that comic books don't make sense in the real world ;P
Edit: Oh yeah and I was criticizing the original idea for Banshee, I guess it seemed like I said that was made up for the movie.

Well X-Men three had a bunch of mutants show up and not really have a role, like Spike and Multiple Man and Archangel. And I didnt like they way they handled Juggernaut (hes not even a mutant).
But like you said Wolverine was worse, they had so many more mutants just show up with nothing to do, freaking Gambit had like two minuts of screen time. And if I didnt like the way they handled Juggernaut then I dont even have the words to describe what they did to Deadpool...

It didn't just wipe out that, it wiped out EVERYTHING. He had no clue who he was or what happened to him in the movies. If you watch Origins: Wolverine and then watch the first X-Men movie, he's clueless about who and what he is for the most part.
Also, I loved Wolverine's cameo in the new movie.
