So I just wanted to make a thread for people to talk about their favorite movies. This can be a general discussion about the merits of the latest movies, a list of your favorite movies, greatest flicks of all time. Basicly just a place to discuss and rate your favorite (or not so favorite) movies.

There is a music documentary called
Standing In The Shadows of Motown
that I saw years ago, and really enjoyed.
It is about a group of musicians who were responsible for most of the famous Motown songs, yet never got any credit.
Any fan of good music would appreciate it - I like Death Metal, yet I love this film!

Buy at Deli, and sneak them in. It's absurd that they can call a monopoly on concessions eaten in the theater, then drive them up to ridiculous prices. Fight the capitalists, comrade. Ten dollars ain't so bad.

I love Leonardo DiCaprio, and then the whitest most sheltered girl at my school (she'd get mad at you for dropping an F-bomb) says she loves him, and I'm like '...What?' Then I learn she hasn't seen Inception, Shutter Island, The Departed, and every movie that he's ever been in besides Titanic and Romeo and Juliet...
Got a pretty hard facepalm out of me.

Ugh, it's like people who say they love Muse but have only heard "Supermassive Black Hole" on Twilight. And they leave the Muse concerts after they play that song. No joke. Why are you even still posting?

Maybe, but I have so many other ways I could use that $10...

Nice thread! I'm a massive film nerd, so this is good for me.
These are my top 5 movies, I gotta say:
Blade Runner
. Just an absolutely perfect movie, IMO. Script is ridiculously good, acting's fantastic, multilayered plot that leaves a lot to the imagination without seeming overly-obtuse. I love that it lets you interpret events in your own way, too (IMO, Deckard's a replicant). As a mishmash of two of my favorite genres - science fiction and film noir - this is obviously a perfect movie for me. Make sure you watch the Director's Cut, though.
The Big Lebowski.
The Coen Brothers are my favorite directors, and this is my favorite of their movies. It's a perfect "smart" comedy, which relies on very intelligent, dialogue-based humor - perhaps my favorite kind of humor - mixed with absurdity and comedic genre-bending, and extremely memorable characters, that just makes it the perfect comedy. The Dude Abides.
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
I've loved Star Wars with a passion since I was a little kid, and I always thought this was by far the best one. The duel between Vader and Luke is a highlight, as is the thrilling asteroid chase or the final run through Cloud City, and the slower moments in between never feel boring due to a great script and acting. The greatest part of the movie - and of the series, and perhaps even the science fiction genre - is, of course, the Battle of mother!@#$ing Hoth. I could watch that every day and never get bored.
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.
I already mentioned two of my favorite genres were scifi and noir, and here's my other favorite - a Western. I'll admit, when I first watched this I was just 5 and I thought it was boring as hell. But I didn't like Westerns then. I watched it again when I was 12, though, and ever since it's been one of my favorite movies. A combination of directing and music are what comes together and makes it truly incredible.
Inglourious Basterds.
Sometimes I get flak for putting this above
Pulp Fiction
or
Reservoir Dogs
as my favorite Tarantino movie, but I really feel like this is the best one. It has the perfect blend of humor, drama and dialogue of any of his movies, and truly memorable characters. What seals it is the awesome character of Colonel Hans Landa - an extremely well-crafted villain, and the first time I've actually thought that a character who was an amoral, pitiless Nazi ruler was actually "cool", if not necessarily sympathetic.
TL;DR: I'm a huge film nerd and will just talk and talk forever about them.

Am I the only one who just know the song from FIFA?
On topic, my 5 favourite movies;
Inception
Tropic Thunder
Lucky Number Slevin
V For Vendetta
Reservoir Dogs

What's worse is that I've only heard that song on Twilight. >.>
Best movie is Kill Bill. Counting one and two as the same movie.

Rango
was awesome for some reason, really fun stuff :p
1.
The League
. Featuring some really good actors, aswell as an awesome story and some twists, this movie has been my favorite for many years. Being a person who reads alot, the fact that we have Captain Nemo, Allan Quatermain, Dr. Jekyll and/or Mr. Hyde and a lot of those classical fictional figures, I can describe it but with a single word.
Fantastic.
2.
The Rock
. Featuring some very famous actors, The Rock came with an excellent, action-packed story, good acting and a few quotes that really stuck.
I'll take pleasure in guttin' you, boy!
3.
V for Vendetta
. Need I say more? The movie is a classic, god damnit!
4.
Serenity.
Featuring some of my favorite actors, Serenity was one of the absolutely best movies i've ever seen. Being a sucker for Sci-fi, I was stuck after 10 minutes.
5.
Inception
. I was heavily exhausted when i saw the movie, but from what I can remember, there was absolutely no way of understanding everything going on in that movie. It had some pretty good actors, aswell. As some people would call it; Mind!@#$.
Martin Luther King: I have a dream...
Leonardo DiCaprio: Oh? I have a dream in a dream!

Brüno.... What don't look at me like that. Seriously stop it. STOP IT. Ok now I'm going to go cry in a corner and it's all your fault.
All jokes aside V for Vendetta is one of my favorite movies, so is Serenity and Book of Eli.

Book of Eli was excellent, although it didn't quite make my top 5.
Also, Brüno, really?
Really?
