Thanks for the replies! I do know how to tank for the most part, but it's the gearing and stuff that gets me. I figured I was doing something wrong when I reforged everything into mastery. But I have some questions.
1. How should I go about balancing parry and dodge while stacking mastery, AND trying to reach the expertise cap? Should I get just any tank gear and gem mastery, or get tank gear with mastery and gem for dodge or something else? What would be a good percent goal for parry/dodge?
2. Should I care about stamina at all? The guide of the forums says i should gem stamina in the blue sockets and mastery in everything else, but I hear differently from a bunch of other people?
1. You do not need to reach the expertise or hit cap. I have something like 15 expertise (due to it being on my weapon and helm and such) and about 1.5% hit. But you should generally reforge out of all expertise and hit to Mastery or Avoidance. I have a couple pieces I didn't reforge, but I also have a ton of Mastery already and I decided to forgo reforging a couple items since I am only doing normal mode raids.
2. I only gem or enchant stamina to match my socket bonus or if there is nothing else to enchant. For example, blue sockets I use Staming+Mastery gem. Chest enchant I use Greater Stamina. But mastery is your best stat. If you are doing regular heroics, our mastery is excellent and you should try to get as much as possible out of it.
See my link below for my character armory if you want more gemming/enchanting advice. I'm pretty sure I'm gemmed, reforged and enchanted correctly.

This is absolutely true. (It really is, as most people here will tell you.)
My DK
2.71% hit and 10 expertise. Works great tbh.
BUT! I've noticed i may need to keep an eye out for misses, dodge's and parry's in a melee-heavy groups due to the threat-loss that follows, otherwise you may be sitting without threat, and no runes or RP. Tho that rarely happens, it can and probably will happen, sometimes. Maybe.
Empower Rune Weapon
. Problem solved.
Otherwise i personally love where Death Knight tanks are at the moment,
having both Warrior and Paladin tanks @ 85 i know who my favorite is.
Even tho my Warrior is better geared, my Death Knight takes less damage according to my healers. (340 iLvl vs 353 iLvl)

No tank atm rolls without diseases. If he does he deserves to be shot and eaten. Diseasless i absolutely unaceptable now after our damage reduction abilities are tied to them. Epidemic is easily accesible and we get outbreak every second reapply of diseases.
I actually roll diseaseless half of the time when my Outbreak is on CD and the boss doesn't stop attacking. People have proven that the damage reduction provided by the diseases is actually LESS than another Death Strike in that time frame.
However, that being said, there are places when doing boss fights to re-apply diseases if needed. I will not skip over another Blood Shield though if I am taking considerable damage from a boss. Especially if in a raid where another tank might provide some of the debuffs.
