Assuming he's a mage and dpsing the panthers, is there any way to interrupt Tears of Blood without actually directly targeting Kilnara? Like... /cast Counterspell;
Or maybe.../target High Priestess Kilnara
/cast Counterspell
/targetlasttarget
Or wouldn't it be the job of the tank to interrupt Tears of Blood. :)

OK, this is assuming you have a focus on the boss itself. I messed up with "@target" instead of "@focus". So, if you don't set your focus on the boss, it won't work. Am I right or still missing something?

You can't use the names of NPCs in the
target=
portion of a conditional block unless something has changed. You can only use the names of players if they are in your party or raid. The only valid values are valid UnitIds.
So, that said, if you want to do it by name of the mob, then the second macro GT posted is how you'd have to do it unless you focus the boss or target it.

Does this particular boss have its own boss unit ID, and can those particular unit IDs be used in target= macros?
If so, you could macro
/cast [] Counterspell
, meaning you'd be free to set your focus to another target (if desired) while still being able to interrupt her Tears ability.

Now that I'm not sure ... let's consult wowprogramming.
http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api_types#unitID
Doesn't look like those boss frames get UnitID support. Non-authoritative though as wowprogramming is basically a wiki.

I think the boss1-4 UnitID had been stealth added in some patch, but myself I'm pretty sure they work*
maybe wowprogramming wasn't updated for that yet ..

Well, according to WowWiki, there is a
boss#
. Added in 3.3.0.

Updated wowprogramming. Added
none
which was also missing.
