My question would be: What _did_ they 'fix'? It takes the current time and a random number, and transforms that into a temporary key. They even have hardware devices doing it.
What can they possibly 'fix' in the iPhone-version? The codes I got from the old version always let me log in without any issues, and if they change the algorithm the old authenticators won't work anymore...
Virusscanner and (to a lesser extent, as it's far too easy and human to get annoyed at the 'program X wants to go on the internet, allow/deny? and just automatically hit allow) firewall is a good idea, true, but the single most important factor nowadays is probably:
Don't use the same e-mail / password combination for WoW as you use for other stuff!

You can't run the game on an iPhone no, but you can use your iPhone as an authenticator ;)

What can they possibly 'fix' in the iPhone-version?
Any changes to the authenticator app are likely to be the apps code or the UI and not the actual process of providing the code.
