I am sorry but I am done here. I have spent too much mental energy trying to get you to understand. You obviously do not
want
to understand, so I am no longer going to try. If you guys accept the inconsistencies in our laws then so be it. I however am not going to follow anyone blindly without questioning. Good luck in your future endeavors and let us all hope that the governments don't push for monitoring the internet. Good bye.

And we (or rather, some people) have spent too much mental energy trying to make
you
understand. That you disagree with someone does not make you right; and I say that without any hostility.

You actually raise some very good points. I hadn't really thought about Sony being the ones not wanting to go to court.
Indeed. It makes sense, all things considered.
Anyway, I'm going to extract myself from this discussion, as I'm obviously not replying with the same quality of responses that I normally take pride in. I've often been replying at ~2am in the morning over here, and it's showing, sadly.
I'd like to go back to the first page in this thread and restate my first response:
LulzSec (and Anonymous as a whole) represents the new face of 'terrorism' in the world - that of cyberterrorism. As soon as more governments and companies start making serious attempts to address it, chances are that we'll find ourselves more restricted (as we do with our physical movements), but eventually resulting in the situation that the amount of cyberterrorism dies down in response to the heightened security (and jail terms associated with being caught).
Part of the problem is the leniency associated with cyber attacks, because you get a bunch of bored kids participating, and it's not seen as politically correct to lock up teenagers for being young and dumb. That's probably going to change in the next 5 years. I'd prepare for a lot of anguish and tears to come.

You're a lot more awake and coherent at 2:00 AM than I am. ;)

Well since they've already admitted they want to steal....they are criminals then, stupid criminals, but still criminals; don't need to wrap it up as cyberterrorism, except to give them a harsher sentence. And what they do, it is a type of terrorism; they are disrupting the lives of normal people, causing fear and terror across the nets(or at least trying to), so......if the shoe fits, it fits. How long till one of the idiots decides it would be 'funny' affect the streetlight grid in a city, causing multiple traffic accidents and kills someone?

The internet makes terrorism a non-sensitive word.

How would you define terrorism?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrorism
Pretty much sums it up. It notes that there is no universal definition, but the biggest points are these -
"violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or ideological goal, deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians), and are committed by non-government agencies."
There is no physical harm done and, in terms of money or resources, what they're doing is incredibly miniscule.
The primary thing I disagree with there is the word 'violent'. I don't see why terrorism is limited to violent acts.
The rest of the description meets Lulzsec's actions in hacking Sony. Creates fear in people, perpetuated for an ideological / political goal, disregarded the safety of civillians (in terms of privacy and personal details) and was committed by a non-government agency.
