Depending on your class, Archaeology can definetly be worth getting, as there are a
few
good
good
items
you that might interest you. If not, Archaeology is of little value aside from free vanity items such as mounts and pets.
Farming Volatiles and the "usual herbs and ores" and then transmuting or prospecting (or selling the raw materials, depending on server economy) is usually a very efficent way to earn gold; I suggest starting off with that, and then get a crafting profession later on.

i have almost all the crafting proffs, but leveling them past wotlk is expensive so... anyways, what do you think of fishing? i have 2 chars at maxed fishing + a third at like 150 or something...

Aside from the Volatile Waters you might get from it, Fishing is something you
can
use to earn money, but there are more efficent ways.
As for leveling crafting past WotLK, selling the items you craft will give you back some of the money you lose; just don't bother with epics.
Besides, once you hit 525 skill, you can basicly /afk while making tons of money; it pays back after a while.

fishing deffinately. alot of the best buff food requires fish, and those fish are selling for like 180g a stack on my server at least. deepsea sagefish is a good one to farm, as for the eel from tol barad when you hit 85. with the new patterns comming out for professions in 4.2, the metals, leathers and cloths will sell again too.

Archaeology is good if you want to sell the green drops on the AH. The Tol'vir ones can go for 400-900g a piece, depending on the server, for people who are lazy and want to make their items quick.

Really? They were going for 50-70g a piece on my server just a couple of weeks ago.

Think about how long that took you. That's about 235 quests, it's not a quick thing. It works out at a pretty poor g/ph.
Questing is good for money if you do it while you're doing something else.

Yeah, I got that, but a 400-800 gold difference per piece? Was surprised, that's all.

Fishing in lava pools are also a good way of getting the volatile fire and some grays worth 6g vendor

Ofc, I wasn't being an ass just re-asserting that fact tehe. I'm surprised by the difference as well, but only because I think 50-70 is ridiculously cheap.

First and only Tol'vir keystone I sold on the AH went for 900 gold(Lothar Alliance).
Edit: And Troll pieces are steadily rising as people want them for ZA/ZG to make it 'easier'.
