The sun rose in the sky the next day though only the staff were aware of the change, the sunless reaches of Saligia had never seen the light of the sun since its construction. But whether they were aware of the difference or not the guards came regardless, herding and snatching the prisoners from the morbid games the previous day and moving them lower and lower into the prison.
The prisoners on the levels would peer curiously at the parade of striped shirted people, but only until they would disappear into the next, numbers constantly added with their fellows. It was only once they reached the eighth, the clanging of picks and chisels resounding in the cold stone reaches, that any sort of cognition of fate was present in the resident prisoners faces. Those of the eighth would gape for a moment, then hastily look away, shaking their heads sadly as they resumed sculpting the image of Superbia amongst the stones.
The ceiling of the eighth was high, taller than any other and held aloft by dozens of titanic statues of Superbia, all seeming to be dressed in different styles of clothes. Yet they all had hands stretched skyward, palms supporting the ceiling.
The prisoners were finally brought to a massive cast iron door set in the wall, a long set of carved stone steps leading up to it. Wheels of locks covered the iron doorway, and a pair of large stone statues of Superbia stood by the gateway, though these were armed with great swords and shields of Iron.
Lines of armed guards stood near the steps, and they quickly formed a circle about the prisoners as they were brought before the great gate. All seven Under Wardens and the Head Warden stood near the back of the crowd, several large wooden chests before them. Dante stood atop a small mound of stone, a half carved face upon the granite. The Head Warden coughed loudly, the sound echoing in the chamber permitting him to speak without aid of a megaphone.
"Good day convicts. Today you have a task set before you. Your abilities and accomplishments yesterday have proven your capability when set tasks of great challenge. And it is for that which you have been brought here today." Dante nodded at Avaritia who opened the chests, revealing weapons gleaming dully in the feeble light of pyres burning in the hands of several shorter statues of Superbia.

Character:
Dante Solomon, Under Wardens
Location:
Hyperphania
"These weapons," Dante began, gesturing to the items in the crates, "are pure iron tempered in salt water. You will need both properties I assure you. You may choose a weapon to take in with you, though do not forget that they will be returned if you do. The task is simple, the lot of you are going to be sent into the ninth level, at which point your sole objective will be to survive for as long as it takes. I will only advise you to stay on the move, standing still will result in a very swift death from those that exist past those doors." Luxuria shivered slightly at that.
"We have swords, shields, spears, axes, rifles with a small bag of ammuniton and staves only. For the record, within the Ninth the collars effect will be diluted and small magic spells will be able to slip past without overt harm. It is ill advised to tempt fate though as some of the residents of the Ninth feed on magic." Avaritia informed the prisoners neutrally.
"You can refuse to enter, but you will be killed on the spot." Ira cheerily mentioned.
"Choose your weapon and make your peace with whatever you pray to, it will matter little once you pass those doors." Dante coldly informed them.
He steadied himself quickly as another tremor shook the floor slightly. The rate had been increasing, meaning time was of the essence. The Head Warden watched as the prisoners cautiously approached and, under the watchful eye of both Under Wardens and rifle toting guards, chose their armaments for the coming battle.

Cyrus rolled his shoulders, and after brief thought picked up a large, curved
scythe
- not unlike one of the dual weapons his comrade-in-arms Hardcore Jaws preferred.
"Head Wardenth or not, without their headth - or thpinal corth, or hearth - they will die," he murmured, running his tongue across the blade.

Character:
Dante Solomon, Under Wardens
Location:
Hyperphania
Solomon watched as the prisoners picked their weapons, waiting until the last had selected their tools of death before speaking again. "Underestimate nothing in the Ninth ring, keep aware and keep moving." He warned the prisoners. "Superbia." Dante called, giving the vain Under Warden a nod.
"Yay, my turn." Superbia squealed happily. Skipping gleefully he climbed the stairs and pulled an intricate key from around his neck. Placing it in the giant keyhole he gave it a quick turn before spinning away and gesturing grandly to the door.
"Welcome to level Nine!" He shouted proudly. With a groan of aged metals and rattle of giant chains the great locks on the door slowly spun a full circle before halting, dust raining from the ceiling at the doors motions. With an idle wave from their model the stone statues of the Under Warden moved, their stone bodies rumbling like an earthquake as they both grabbed a titanic handle of the door and heaved.
The doors opened with a mournful creak, the pair of giant iron barriers drawn open by the stone giants. A foreboding red glow washed over the eighth level, the scarlet light coating the prisoners and guards like a river of blood let loose from an open wound within the very earth itself.
"Move forward, all that awaits you here now is a bullet in the head." Dante ordered. He watched as the prisoners moved up the stairs and into the ninth. Though the Head Warden showed nothing on his features, inside he shivered. Imagining the floor of frozen blood of that level, spears of ice jutting from the floor and ceiling and hiding the predators that lurked within. The red glow, as Solomon well knew, came from deep below the ice and gained its grim glow from the nature of the ice, some said the light from the very core of the earth itself.
But Dante knew better, much to his horror.
The Head Warden watched as the great doors closed once more, though the lock did not rumble shut as he would normally have ordered. He would have to enter there soon enough he knew. "Ready the other Under Wardens, we leave shortly." He ordered Avaritia, who nodded soberly in agreement.
He only hoped the prisoners could provide a distraction.

The Prisoners were shuffled through the massive doors, which closed behind them with a thud of finality. As soon as the doors closed a shifting sound came from amongst the giant icicles jutting from the ground, something scraping against the ice.
From between two massive icicles a reptilian head emerged, the light washing over its scaly skull and dimly illuminating a thick coat covering it. The draconian creature examined the assembled prisoners before it with interest as its mouth split wide in a facsimile of a smile. Yet it was not rows of gleaming teeth which filled the creatures mouth, but sharpened stakes of ice composed of blood, stabbed violently into the gums in imitation of teeth even as they dripped the creatures plasma from the wounds.
"Newcomersh?" A scratchy voice echoed from the creatures voice. "Dracush ish sho happy." Dracus crooned as it stepped past the pillars of spired ice, a large scaled leg and talons moving forward and scratching deep rivets into the ice. What had once been wings stretched from its back, though it was but the bones, flesh having deserted the tools of flight long ago.
"You can help Dracush become human again." The creature hissed. A breeze fluttered its loose cloak, which could now be seen in the dim illumination was not composed of fabric. Rather, it was composed of hundreds of flayed human skins, stitched together with the tendons of the abandoned corpses to hold it together. The macabre cloak covered much of the creature, stretched faces with hollow eyes and mouths agape in eternal screams pressing against the monsters body.
"Dracush need your flesh to be human again, give it to Dracush!" The monstrosity roared at the prisoners as it took another step forward.

Dracus screeched in pain and snatched his claw back, glaring at the human. "Iron." He hissed in fury. With a crack of its tail he knocked a large icicle from its base, sending the conical piece of frozen blood at the human and kicking at Jax with a rear leg.
