so came back to wow 2 months ago and leveled up my prot warrior
been doing some research on gemming, reforging and other tank stuff
i always come across the 102.4 avoidance number... what is this? how can i calculate it?
and what do u once u reach this 102.4 number? you keep stacking mastery i presume?
and is there a list of prot warrior stat weightings?
thanks for reading
these are my stats
Armour 35952
Dodge 12.27%
Parry 13.47%
Block 52.35%
Expertise 9
Hit +1.95%

It's not 102.4% avoidance. It's 102.4% avoidance + mitigation. It basically means that you will never take full damage on a melee hit (has nothing to do with magical damage)
Avoidance - you take 0 damage. Includes misses, dodge, and parry.
Mitigation - reduces damage. Includes armor and mastery (i.e. block)
You get 5% base miss.
So 5% miss + 12.27% Dodge + 13.47% Parry + 52.35% Block = 83.09% avoidance + mitigation.
I think that's correct....
EDIT - don't forget to adjust for raid buffs.
thanks
now i understand
