Anyone else realize that tanking is incredibly easy?

Well... I rolled my first tank out of frustration with long queue times.
Prior to this I had utmost respect for tanks, they were the tough guys, they were the dungeons guides... They were the guys doing the most work. If the tank did things right on a boss - there was no way we could fail. They were the guys that knew all the tacts, had all the right advice. When Jesus said let there be light they flipped the switch.
They were gods.
Then when I started doing heroics with my tank, scared ^&*!less of this foreign role that I am unworthy of I was rather surprised. I didn't have to do much.
I did Throne of The Tides as my first heroic. I was terrified because I had bad memories from my first time there. But, it wasn't hard at all... Because I had no work to do.
The adds were CC'd... The spells were interrupted... The hardest thing I had to do was kite blight beasts on the final boss... lol as if kiting is hard xD
So then I went on to Grim Batol. The first boss was literally me standing in a corner while DPS go crazy trying to kill some purple monkey thing. Second boss all I had to do was move out of the AoE while DPS tried to kill some fire thingy.
Then, after a few days I gathered up the nerve to do a Zandalari.
I got Zul'Gurub. I squirmed with nerves as I remember how much work I had as a dps.
But then... As a tank I had none. I had to dodge some boss' breath for an achievement... I was really surprised to find that I didn't get Toxic Link on me at all. So all I had to do was stand there like a statue and press a cast-sequence macro.
On Bethekk I kept thinking, "I'm doing something wrong" or "I probably needed to do something different" because this is just too simple. And Mandokir doesn't even target the tank with his slam or decapitate so I once just stood there while dps were running their asses off.
Now, I can't speak for raids and I won't because that's not what this is about.
My question is, if tanking is so easy why are there none in LFG queue?
To be honest the hardest tanking I've had to do was Deadmines with Glub'tok when the DPS is slow and the adds are on the other side of the firewall. But even that was easily handled.

Not sure if serious?
A few runs with an intelligent group doesn't make tanking "incredibly easy". Did you mark CC or did someone else? Did you have to explain the fight to anyone or go over a strategy (e.g. for Zanzil who gets red if the zombies come out, who gets blue first to zap the berzerker; or on panther boss how many panthers do you pull at a time)? Did you have to communicate with anyone about who is doing what?
This is why tanking is hard; tanking is being the team leader on a project team and having to coordinate with everybody else to make sure they're on the same page. Tanking is having to know what every pull in a dungeon does, what the target priority is for CC and kill orders, what each mob's abilities are and how it affects positioning:
* Do you have to turn them away because they do a cone attack?
* Do you have to be aware of something on the ground they have to be moved out of?
* Hard-hitting abilities that need to be interrupted?
* Is there a roving pat nearby that you need to be aware of?
That's what makes tanking difficult, it's not the aspect itself it's having to literally know
everything
about the dungeon before you ever step foot in there, and having the pressure of having to constantly mentally go over each pull to remind yourself of what needs to be done, and then making sure everybody executes it:
Okay I need to CC the Plaguebringer and the Theurgist; Hunter Trap the Plaguebringer, and Sheep the Theurgist. Burn down the Torturer. Skinner summons adds so I need to watch for that so I can aggro all of them. Plaguebringer is first priority, but I need to remember to interrupt the Theurgist.

I agree.
Now I'm not calling the OP out on their integrity, but they also just posted in Paladin forums for tanking help.
My bear tank only tanks in raids. I don't find it easy, and I love the challenge.

If you don't have to fix anyone else's mistakes (technically not your job) and someone else takes on all the responsibility of leading the group (not necessarily your job) then yes, tanking is easy. It's challenging when you do both of those things, but then it's just because of the added non-tanking work that recalls being a parent for obstinate children who like touching the oven.
Honestly though, if you strip every role to its bare bones, tanking is probably (usually) the easiest*. Simplest rotation, most boss mechanics ignore you, and 'taunt trade at X stacks' is hardly difficult. It's considered difficult because a lot of the responsibility seems to default to the tank in this specific MMO.
*Obviously every role has a boss or two tailored towards making its life hell, but in general.

Tanking isn't rocket science. Props for figuring that out, OP! The most difficult things in tanking are really bad group members, who can screw your life hard in many possible ways, and a few raid boss mechanics.
Goddaymn you did ZUL'GURUB. Serious business right there. You realise that even the ridiculously nerfed 3.0 raids are higher level content than that? Probably not. The target audience for your post is people that find Zul'gurub hard. Yeah you might impress those maybe.
You imply on a lot of places in your post that DPSing is harder, which I find hilarious. Toxic link! Holy jolly what a terrifying ability.
The problem I am having with this post is that for bloody years I always encouraged people to try tanking, telling them that it's not as hard as they think, in a positive way. This post is stating the same, but in a negative way. "Look guys I can do tanking and I don't even have to try lol you don't even get toxic link!" I have definitely seen more acceptable behaviors.
Oh and that paragraph about how tanks were gods.

The problem with tanking and healing is to realise you do not fight a boss, but 3 blunders who will not improve.

it's having to literally know
everything
about the dungeon
especially the abilities of trash mobs, so you know which ones are ranged (to determine how you will herd them together) and which do brutal or obnoxious abilities (that need to be first kill or cc'ed).
and then there is the never-ending challenge of trying to get aggro on mobs that ranged dps are attacking before the mob is in my melee range!

lol, reminds me of an RL friend who plays a tankadin. One day, we were talking (back during Wrath), and he just randomly said, "I'm so bored with tanking. I just have to stand there and look pretty."

I typed a long post and then decided to delete it. It's not worth arguing with you.
You tanked and clear some heroics. Grats, tanking's easy.

You are an obvious troll, starting with an inflammatory post.
Then you continuously respond with flippant smiley :) and googly eye O.o....
This thread is pointless.
By the way, I guess everything isn't all rose petals and rainbows for you:

"They mocked me and told me to put on Righteous Fury, but it WAS on so they were poking fun at me. I just felt like I can't tank at all. I was running back and forth the whole time taunting like a crazy person and never getting a chance to actually build aggro."

Flame? This was jovial.
You perceive it as your own.
Gawd, can't believe I'm actually doing this in this thread.
:D You guys are awesome!
Move on to a lighter note please?

Well, yeah it wasn't rose petals and rainbows, but it wasn't hard. It was like having 2 extra tanks. No problems.

I smile a lot, nice people do that. It was to get across that I am being jovial. And the googly eye was because I didn't understand what you meant by arguing, but you explained that. So it's all good.
