Well basically I am trying to help my uncle improve his Shadow dps, but as I know nothing about Shadow Priests I thought I would link his character here and ask more experienced people.
atm he struggles to do 10k dps.

That is his character. Could you offer any advice/help on changes that need to be made and if his glyphs/gems are correct?
If possible could you maybe tell me what his rotation should look like? (Without using acronyms as I can't figure out what they are)
I am sorry if I am asking a lot of you.
Thanks in advance.

Theres a lot of ground to potentially cover on this, but I'll try and keep things simple and to the point.
Lets start with gearing: Tell your Uncle that mastery is good for us these days, but only after a point. Haste remains the single most effective increase to our DPS in those initial gearing stages. Generally speaking, the break point is at some point over 2K (2589 specifically for non goblins with out a Dark Intent buff), at this point, seeking out additional mastery becomes a good gearing path.
However, there are also several missing enchants, and the profession perks are weak at best. The skinning perk is quite weak for SPriests as it is currently our worst stat. Theres only so much you can expect to do with weaknesses like that in your characters set up, after all. The lack of a good weapon enchant in particular hurts a lot; even hurricane will do the job, no need to break the bank with Power Torrent if money is a problem.
That said, I'm noticing a lack of raid experience on the toon as well. Not that I"m ribbing for lack of exp, of course, but that an Spriest tends to fare poorly in a 5-man environment. Without time to stack Evangelism, and get empowered shadows up, our damage can indeed be very low. This is doubly true is the priest has a large mastery amount, as until our orbs go up, the difference between zero and ten thousand mastery is nothing.
As for 'rotation', we don't really have one. We operate on a priority system, where different spells need to go out at different times. The priority system goes like this:
Vampiric Touch > Devouring Plague > Shadow Word:Pain > Mind Blast > Mind Flay
Basically you cast the highest spell in the list depending on which is needed, in other words you are only using Mind flay when all DoT's have been applied and Mind Blast is on cool down. There are some advanced aspects to it, such as adding in Shadow Word:Death on bosses below 25% health, managing shadow orbs and empowered shadow uptime, damaging cool downs like Shadow Fiend and Archangel, but I'm sure he can pick that up simply enough.
All in all tho, doing 10K dps with his current setup isn't terrible honestly. Once he gets his gear nailed down (askmrrobot.com helps a lot if you are unsure of how to maximize your reforges and enchants), and starts doing some raid bosses he'll likely improve his numbers.
Edit: I should clarify, the priority list above is just that, this is not the opener I use. This simply means that if you have Vampiric touch and Shadow Word Pain both slipping off the target, Vamp touch should be reapplied first. Opening with Pain to begin Orb generation is a solid way to start

Okay thanks for your advice, I been messing around a bit and I managed to hit 10.5k dps on a target dummy.
I changed his enchant and reforged the spirit -> haste where possible and I reforged crit -> haste/mastery where possible.
I enchanted his belt.
Having some mana problems though not sure if that is due to a rotation error or a common problem in the class.
I will mess around some more and give you feedback.
Thank you for your advice it really helped and made a large difference already.

Mana for us is really jumpy, and on a dummy you will run out much faster. Mascocism procs quite often on most boss fights, each hit granting around 10K mana per hit sometimes several times a minute. On a dummy, being without this effect will leave you going oom after 2-3 minutes of continuous casting...don't worry in a raid or dungeon this won't be a problem. Weaving Shadow Word: Death into your rotation if you get below 20% mana is also a good habit to get into. Though Dispersion grants a large amount of mana, try to see it as a a last ditch restore, as the downtime hurts and its important to use Dispersion to avoid deadly attacks.
