I bought the Naga Epic a while back, and to be honest, I only use one of the side buttons as ALT. I've been considering mapping another one to CTRL, but 23 hotkeys plus 23 ALT+hotkeys seems to be enough at the moment. I would like to think the mouse was worth it, since it's a very high quality mouse, but I could have managed just as well with any Logitech mouse and SetPoint software.

I love my Razer Naga I'm just using the basic software and have it set to numpad instead of 1-= and i have the numpad mapped to my action bars.

If you actually would use the potential that the Razer Naga offers, then it would clearly be an upgrade over your current mouse.

Honesltly i think its an overkill.
5 button mouse + most accesible keybinds with modifier macros are perfectly enough. Much faster reaction timer and much easier to master than pressing 20ish buttons with a thumb.
Well, one can certainly think so, but I've been using my Naga for over 6 month now (combined witha Nostromo n52te, screw keyboards) and I would never go back to my old mouse. As a healer perspective, the Naga + onmouseover / Clique hotkey setup on the side of the mouse make healing a breeze. I'm having all my 12 button plus some modifier bind atm, and I'm using all of 'em. The only binding I use wich is NOT on my mouse is "combat oriented" (judgement = one, HoJ = 2), that's about it, pretty much EVERYTHING else is bound to the mouse. As for reaction time, I only move one finger... can hardly get faster than that.
I highly recommend the Naga aswell.
(And if you're looking for a replacement to your keyboard to something more compact, get the Nostromo from Razer)

Overkill.
Get the MX518 from Logitech. It's widely known as the best gaming mouse, and it's cheap too.
I second this, MX518 is really great for any kind of gaming.

I owned a MX518 for years prior to my Naga, and I would not go back. I swear, once you get used to the side keybinds of a Naga, you can NEVER go back. EVER. :D

I find the Naga very much worth the cost. However, playing a "button mashing class" (dps warrior, rogue, etc) my thumb gets tired pretty quickly. Basically I've reverted to using the keyboard for most of my abilites, but use some "oh #$%^" and major CD buttons on the Naga. On my casters and
very much so
on my healers (using Grid&Clique), however, it's golden.

I wouldn't mind getting a Naga for my cooldowns and the like, but I'm not too sure on the cost.

Having just bought a Razer Naga myself I can honestly say it's worth every penny you pay for it! The 12 twelve buttons on the side do take a bit of time to get used to, but even after 2 days use I am already feeling comfortable using a few of those buttons and it has definately helped.

I'm considering one but my fear is that using my thumb like that would give me
RSI
in my thumb because, looking at the designof the mouse, I would have to bend my thumb back a bit to hit all the keys.
Any thoughts on that from the people using one?

It would depend abit on the class you play. Classes with spells that have a casttime are not so bad, but melees can be painful for my thumb when trying to keep up with the global cooldowns.
The buttons at the bottom are hard to reach, so I use them for abilities I use only once or twice during a fight.
My healing setup (using grid&clique) is such that I have buttons 1-3 for my primary heals, 4-6 for my secondary heals, <shift>1-3 for the rest, 7-9 for healing cooldowns and 10-12 for rarely used stuff. My dps setup has a similar configuration, although on 10-12 I have put out of combat stuff.
If you are comfortable with using modifier keys (shift, alt, ctrl), you can add that to the top 6/9 buttons and you're set for all you'll need on the easiest to reach buttons.
One thing that takes some getting used to, is the placement of the buttons on the mouse. It's easy to move the mouse sideways when using the buttons, at least until you get comfortable with it.
