Say there is one advertising on the newspaper from a guy who wants to buy an used mustang (a car) for $2000. You went to the nearest used car shops and there was one for $1500. You bought the car just to be sure noone buys it before you do. You call the guy from the newspaper and it turned out he already got one. Is it a scam for the newspaper dude to not have posted another reply telling all the people who read that newspaper that he already got a car? Not at all.
And? I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. The example doesn't match anything.

Tartonga, are you seriously perpetuating this with flawed analogy after flawed analogy?
but I've also made out a few times
I don't think making out with people is necessarily part and parcel of scamming them.
Ever see Tommy Boy?

You know, when a statement about the falsehood of a another statement is said, it is also usually argumented why. The 3 of you didn't explain why.

I simply don't agree with you Sinespe.
And no, I've not used the 'my friends are black' excuse. I don't condone racism in any form.

If one chain of events is being used as an analogy for another chain of events, then they must follow the same structure. But they don't follow the same structure, because there is a third party and no lying involved in the second case. Therefore it's a bad analogy. No one took the time to write it out because it's something you can see pretty easily.
And MrSCH, since you don't consider online interaction as meaningful, would you find death threats, lies, and/or racial slurs acceptable too online?

No I don't Sinespe.
Because what happens in a video game doesn't matter in real life, I can't understand how people can think otherwise.

Anyway ok. Yes, sometimes you can get REAL reactions to do with video games. But I'm not sure I ever mentioned that.... I've always been saying that RL and IG are two separate entities and should be regarded as such.
God, you really are just reading what you want to read, aren't you....

I don't think it does.
Do you go away and cry when you don't get a boss kill?
Do you go away and tell your mum you killed Rag last week?

The 3 of you didn't explain why.
It took two pages of argument to establish the previous analogy as bunkum, when it should have taken two posts. You and those on your side are being either deliberately dense or plain stupid. Your analogies are getting so weak that there is no point in showing the flaws; they're so painfully obviously wrong. Besides which, at least one of us did point out the reason it's invalid:
Nope, but
that's not what you're doing
Try to stay away from the ad hominem and say a proper reply.

And what if a third party says the "WTB for 150g", then you go into the AH and there lots of that item (posted by different people) for a cheaper price, let's say 100g. You take one randomly and then you talk with the 3rd party that you bought the item and you are able to sell it to him. Then he replies back telling you that he already got it. Is it a scam?

Okay, this discussion is getting a little more heated than it needs to and some of the comments being made are getting pretty close to becoming unacceptable. I'm just going to encourage everyone to just take a deep breath. That post you were about to make, just wait 10minutes and then come back and see if it still feels important to make it.
I certainly don't want to close down the thread but let's just keep things civil and maybe try to get back to the core topic instead of arguing over analogies and such.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

the in-game scamming, in any form, does have a real time, real life effect and for somebody, it's going to be quite negative.
My question is, should it?
If you get scammed out of Gold, in WoW the odds are it's because you didn't do your research.
Get hacked? Open a ticket, change your password, get an Authenticator. Do your research.
You aren't losing loved ones, assets, houses, real world finance, friends or anything like that.
