Anyone know if
Ricket's Magnetic Fireball
might be better for cat dps than Fluid Death?

I ran your character (Ot @ Muradin) through Mew with a few different duration / buff settings, and Ricket's was only slightly better. Here's the highest-iteration results:
Ricket's Magnetic Fireball
:
Fluid Death
:
27309 +/- 12.5 DPS
27297 +/- 12.5 DPS
Note that they are within each other's margin of error, I'd say it's a coin-flip.

There is no way Ricket's is within a stone's throw of Fluid Death...
One person supplies a simulation that says they should be close to equal. You say there's no way. Why? What evidence do you have?

If you have trouble keeping Fluid Death stacked on a fight (I can't think of any Firelands fights where this should be an issue, but I don't actually DPS in raids) then I'd probably go with Ricket's. Otherwise I'd stay with Fluid Death.

The hit on Fluid death can be reforged into an ass tonne of mastery. I dont think mew has taken that into account.
It does, I actually "reforged" it into haste manually, because that's what the OP has his currently reforged into. If it was reforged into Mastery instead, the numbers might have come out differently.

I'm not really reforging into any one stat. I mess around and reforge into several things, depending on my mood and whether I'm trying to share a given piece of gear with my bear setup. But given that I don't have T11 2pc bonus anymore, I don't see why Mastery should be significantly better than Haste or anything else. All the research I've done points to all of the secondary stats being close enough in relative DPS value (sans T11 2pc) that it depends more on the fight and your skill as to what stat will give you the best dps gain.

Fluid Death is basically 380 agility with 321 hit...
Ricket's Magnetic Fireball is 340 agility with 283 crit...
If as you say secondary stats are close to equal now... not a stone's throw... There aren't many fights you can't keep up the buff for Fluid Death.
But it's not 283 crit, it's an on-use 1700 crit (I do realize
how
you came up with the 283 number, and that's not what I'm arguing against). Assuming that's equivalent to 283 crit is a simple (and generally pretty accurate) approximation, but it ignores everything about what it means to be "on-use." I tend to agree with you about Fluid Death being the right choice, but it's important to note that the results I posted above are
simulation
results from Mew, which has programmed into it "smart" on-use behavior, and as such, on-use trinkets tend to perform higher than a linearized approximation would have you believe. Surely simulator results are more trustworthy than a simple approximate guess.
In the table I made for
this thread
, the on-use trinkets perform better than you might assume they should (note the performance of the oft-neglected Unsolvable Riddle in that table, its on-use effect is huge).
