I am looking for a good way to target enemy mobs, without having it bound into an attack command.
Currently, I have /petattack added to my Serpent Sting on my Hunter, and Curse of Doom on my warlock. This works OK, as it will generally swap to a live target in the general direction that I am facing. I use basic castsequence macros as "openers" on these 2 classes, then switch to priority system keybinds after that. (Often in 5 mans, these castsequence's are all I get off before the mob is down).
The problem is, that I will occasionally pull a mob that is not in combat, but is in range. And with the recent change in pet stances, I seem to be pulling mobs that are completely out of LOS....sometimes in other rooms.
Long story short...is there a better way to target my next enemy, without binding it to an attack?

I guess to maybe make this make more sense, I should explain a little better.
As I said in the OP, I have a castsequence macro that I use mostly just in 5 mans or trash pulls. For my hunter, the macro is something like:
/petattack
/castsequence reset=combat Serpent Sting, Explosive Shot, Black Arrow, Cobra Shot, Cobra Shot, Cobra Shot, Explosive Shot, Cobra Shot, Arcane Shot, Cobra Shot, Cobra Shot
(pretty sure thats it...may have 1 more round of Explosive/Cobra in there)...anyhow, it ends up keeping Explosive and Black Arrow on CD.
Again, this is only for trash and 5 mans as I know its not anywhere near a proper "rotation", but it makes the mind-numbing grind for VP's a little easier. I have it bound to my scrollwheel, and I can pretty much just zone out through most heroics, and still pull 1st or 2nd on Recount.
The issue is the /petattack....one scroll to many at the wrong time, and my pet charges off into the next room and pulls a mob that is waaay out of LOS, and out of range.
It may just be the nature of the beast for using a lazy-ass macro, but I thought there might be something else I could try.

Add /stopmacro to the beginning and the macro will not execute if the target doesn't have a target (most likely isn't in combat with you).
That, or pay attention.
