I'm not a fan of popping during conserve phases if there isn't something that needs to be burned down. You try to time it with when your Evocation cooldown comes off so that you can boost your mana back after burning.
There's probably some theorycrafting that can be done in this regard - whether we're better off using Arcane Power in a burn or conserve rotation. Depends how much mastery you have, I suppose.

The point of conserve phase is to save your mana, and doing acceptable damage. Wouldn't using AP at this phase be counter-intuitive?

Isn't AP part of the Burn Phase?
Like, that's what you're waiting to come off CD? So you can hit it again?

Actually, I don't pop AP on cooldown. I usually wait for Gems and Evo to come off cooldown (also, the line up with on-use trinkets).
Of course, I don't have 4pT12 yet, so ....

you really don't lose that much, like maybe an AB or two, Mage Armor can return it just fine.

i'm not reading everything cause i'm drunk at the moment but question. Why is the arcane burn phase initiated around evoc? With a talent maxed, evoc cd is 2 min. You don't have a proper burn phase without mirror images which has a 3 min cd. Am i missing something.
