I'm currently running my toon judolexx on sargeras in rbg's as a flag carrier, and I've heard some bad things about pallies as fc. I'm hoping that the wowhead community can give me a nod to the right place to look up gear choices, stats, gems, enchants, and hits, at making the battle to keep the flag and stay alive a bit better.
I'm not looking for hard core numbers and long formulas but i'd love to get some reasoning behind why certain gear/stats/gems/enchants and so on.
The thing i'm most interested in is reforging.... There are so many options. Like stacking mastery to make melee worthless. Or possibly haste for seal of insight procs....
Please keep the "prot pallies suck" spam to a minimum and I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys have to offer!

Stack resilience over everything.
well do you stack res to the point of exclusion of socket bonus? And what about the other aspects of gear, stats, enchants, meta?

No, because socket bonuses on all pvp gear give resilience (and you still need to meet meta requirements). Socket dodge/parry and resilience for reds, resil in yellows, resil/stamina in blues.
Run full pvp gear. Use an
Effulgent
or possibly
Destructive
meta. Enchants should be straightforward: resilience, stamina, avoidance/mitigation.
any idea why the 2% spell dmg taken is better from the
Effulgent
is better than the 2% armor bonus from
Austere
? I wouldnt even consider the
Destructive
remotely as an option, the goal is survival and not to return fire.
considering that most people trying to hit the fc's group on offense dont use aoe dmg and prot pallies have loads of interupts for casters... I've found dmg to be predominately melee taken. I could easily be wrong which is why i'm posting here lol. I'm just looking for some explination before I change :)
I can see where the
Effulgent
would be helpful during the transition phase from flag post to home base but after that I can't help but feel the
Austere
is a better choice.

On the other hand, 2% spell damage reduction helps against practically everything except warriors and ferals.
Never thought of it like that before. Sounds like a decent swap to me.
How is that factored anyway. I need to find the order of operation for dmg taken and how it works with the flag carrier debuffs that stack on you.
In otherwords do you reduce the dmg via this meta before or after other dmg mitigations and which ones lol.
Also, right now my dodge is relatively low. around 7%. But my gear is not reforged at all except for the 5% hit cap and i'm not even sure I should have that....

Ok so what about reforging gear? Should I be reforging to dodge so that it's more in line with parry? And what kind of gear should I be purchasing, gear with Expertise/Haste/Criticalstrike/Hit?
and does it make more sense to enchant for dodge/mastery/stamina
dodge will help the ever increasing resistance to melee.
Mastery will continue but in a much more limited capacity towards melee.
But stam will help withstand the horrid magic dmg that pallies are known to have little resistance to.
Again I'm just not sure how the dmg is applied to a flag carrier.
Here is an example.
The flag carrier has debuffs on him and takes 100% more dmg. Is that dmg mitigated first then given the 100% debuff or is the debuff taking effect before mitigation?
Knowing this would def help in figuring out if stam is worth while to stack at all much less over dodge/parry/mastery given that at 10 stacks another 10k life will mean nothing and very few times will a fc go down with 4 stacks or less in a decent group.

This is a database to remind you,
http://www.wowhead.com/items=3?filter=qu=3;cr=79:166;crs=1:4;crv=0:0
is a list of all the cata gems with resilience
Also wouldn't you want dodge over parry? Since you can dodge melee and spells, but you cannot parry spells.
Wait, what?
Dodge only works for melee attacks and dodge have no advantage over parry for players.

he also doesnt realize that there are no dodge/resil parry/resil gems.
And yes dodge does out way parry but only slightly as spells that have a melee component can be dodged but not parried.

I could still use some help here. Particularly on the Reforging and spec aspect.
