Why so much hate on MoP?

Everyone has been begging for brewmasters, monks, and specially Pandaren since WoW started. Now all of a sudden once we have them people act like its some new thing blizz thought up for all the little kids as a cute little panda people. Thing is they arent a cute little panda people..not even close, they practice fighting day and night, and love beer! Think spiritual dwarves.

Personally, I like most of what I see in terms of the system changes. I just think its silly to base the entire expansion name, locations, etc on Pandaria when theres so many other places they could have gone (emerald dream). For a race thats gone from having almost 0% exposure in the game to having an expansion..eh. Sure, they've been around, but so have a lot of other races who've got a lot more lore and backstore and heck, involvement in WoW. Thats probably where a large portion of the confusion and backlash is from.
Looking at the landscapes is nice, but theres a bit TOO much real-world counterparts for my tastes, especially in the architecture.

I NEVER asked for Pandarens. I would have preferred if they stayed on their tiny island until they all starved to death, honestly.

Personally, I'm hating on the talent tree changes and the addition of Pokemon. We already did talent tree changes, remember? Now GC wants every frost mage to be about 0.05% different from every other frost mage. Why not just do away with the talent system altogether? I already miss my character growing in strength every time I ding (talent system pre-Cata), and I'm definitely going to miss a talent point every other level. Now I have to wait 15 levels just to get a flavor spell? Big time fail imho.

I think the forums need to be mostly ignored during this time. Even fan forums such as this one. The scum rises to the top. Blizzard themselves are probably getting great feedback
at
Blizzcon, where folk are less likely to be jollygobblers.
But on forums, almost every topic is complaining. On the official forums, some blue posters are taking the time to reply to these, even. I am surprised they are bothering, the tone there is ridiculously negative.
For myself, I am extremely excited about the changes and new content announced. Pandarens may not have been totally serious in the past, but the story of them rejoining the world on the back of a giant turtle sounds pretty amazing - I'm expecting the same sort of creative, interesting ideas for the rest of the new environments too, rather than expecting it to be a giant in-joke about brewmasters.
As for Pokemon hate... The new pet battles is possibly the thing I am most excited about. Even before I was level 60, I was saying that what WoW has been lacking is a great meta-game diversion, apart from the gameplay already in the main game. Most great RPGs have them, and even Final Fantasy 11 took it's Tetra Master card game online along-side the MMO. It sounds like an interesting side-game that can probably be ignored if the player isn't interested.
GIFT
is in full effect!

I haven't run through every single detail of the Wowhead News site, but one thing I see missing in the MoP expansion details is conflict. Arthas was going to Scourge the world, Deathwing was going to sunder it open... and these pandas just want to spar? I'm personally very excited to explore and experience the new Pandaren zones just for the sake of enjoying this less serious expansion to the World. But those hardcore players who are looking for the next chance to avert the latest world-ending crisis will likely be disappointed in comparison to the last few expansions.
Even though the Pandaren are a less serious part of the World, I think it's a good idea to feature them in this expansion, in order to return to an (at least partially) established concept of Warcraft. Since Warcraft 3 and for most of WoW's life, the Lich King has been the epitome of evil, lurking even as the Burning Crusade was the endgame expansion. Although Deathwing was tied into the WoW lore effectively, he seemed liked an entirely new concept when Blizzard introduced him.

I happen to feel there are indeed some valid complaints. When I read how the player Pandaren wouldn't be fighting for something like vengeance, they'd be fighting for
fun
, and then the whole pandas-on-back-of-a-huge-turtle... I hope this will turn out much more serious, and much less fuzzy and cartoonishly amusing than it seems now.
I also feel a little heartsick for talent tree changes. So many levels where nothing happens to your character while leveling. Might as well lower the total amount of levels in the game back to 60, where they felt they could manage something happening at every new level.
But I see they know that a shakeup is needed. And I hope they do it frightfully well and pull me right back in.

The Kalu'aks already ride from port to port on turtles lead by giant carrots. Heck, Diskworld is just one giant world on the back of a turtle (and four elephants), but it's a great read - far from a mere joke, it tells a great story. It's all just creative storytelling.

I don't like the talent tree changes. I love everything else to come.

Basically, people don't like change. MoP is change.
Cheers.

I'm guessing because many just have to get used to/don't like change, but mainly the complainers seem of the persuasion '
it's not catered to the little niche of what I like in WoW, THUS the whole expansion is crap and WoW will die cause I can not imagine anyone thinks different than me!
'.
Unfortunately the people that feel the strongest about the expansion are probably also the ones most vocal about it, I doubt we see the majority of (probably more casual) players on forums and such and I suspect they'll like the expansion.
There's always going to be things people don't like in an expansion. At the same time there will be tons of people that love what others hate, and vice versa. Every expansion there has been a reaction like this, and so far WoW hasn't died and many people have remained happy with it.
Personally I really like most of the new stuff, it looks fun, more versatile and above all gorgeous! Also digging the seeming shift away from 'big bad guy comes to destroy the world, omg!' and more focus on alliance-horde. I suspect this will prepare both factions for the ultimate big baddie in the expansion(s) after :)
I'm not sold on the talent trees yet, but then again I trust Blizz to implement it well so I'm pretty sure that I'll be fine once it comes out.
I play the game to have fun. This expansion looks loads of fun!

The "hate" happens every expansion. Some people like change and new things, some people don't. It has nothing to do with pandas.
For me it does.
It is the single reason I hate this expansion... (Granted, the removal of EVEN MORE choice in the talen trees sucks.)

The new talents are supposed to give you more choice, not less. You're really going to have to think about what to take each time, rather than a cookie cutter build. I've been convinced of this.
Cheers.

1. Cookie Cutter builds will always exist. No exceptions.
2. If there is more choice, where is my fury tank? My frost tank? My DW Unholy? My Shaman tank?

In the fantasy world of the imagination where they belong.
And yes, the Hate is mainly the vocal minority of people who don't know jack about the Lore and prefer to complain about everything they can just to make them feel better about it.
