Porn.
Just to clarify- you think that the age should be lower, or you think it should be available regardless of age?

Yeaaah, no. The porn age should not be dropped. Viewing it isn't as restricted with the internet, but I don't think it's morally right to be able to do porn when you're 15. My breasts weren't even done growing at 15 FFS. There's a reason why you're not considered an adult until you're 18, and that's a good example.
And yes, it's true that teen in todays culture know more about sex than they should. I knew more about it when I was 14 than I should have. I would think lowering the age of pornography would just help the pedos out by making their 'need' more accessable.
Anyway, I think the drinking age should be lowered. In my opinion, if you're able to enlist in the armed forces and fight for your country and freedom at 18, you should be able to walk into a bar and get a beer.

Mmm. Thinking of what is age-restricted in my country. Alcohol and smoking... well if I could, I would just erase both of those from existence, so I am okay with the age restrictions there.
Age of consent for sexual activities is 15 in Slovak republic, which I think is fine as it is. (fun fact: it is 12 in Vatican) Pornography is 18+... well. I think that is a little bit off. Honestly, if we set the age of consent for sex at 15, we should also be okay with setting pornography to 15, or the other way around (I don't really care about one way or the other.), change the age of consent to 18 as well. There is no logical explanation for allowing the practice of sexual acts at an earlier age and viewing of recorded sexual acts at a later age.
For voting it is 18... which is fine. What I think is kinda off is the minimal age that a child can be punished by law, or something like that. I think minors that are younger than 15 are not actually punishable by law, yet there have already been crimes like murder and rape committed by children below that age. I am not exactly sure what happens to those kids, but I am sure they are treated much less severely than older people. This is really hard to decide about though, because if children below 15 would be punishable by law and they would commit something that would get them "jailed"(or some sort of equivalent of that), they might just get into a bad environment and grow up to become thugs and full time criminals. I honestly do not know how I would solve this, but I think it is wrong when a 14 years old guy murders or rapes someone and is pretty much spared of any severe punishment.
I also have a feeling there are some difficulties when it comes to underage (sub18, maybe sub15, not sure) people and earning money. Sure, it kinda prevents child labour, which might become a problem in the lower classes if such restrictions were lifted, but I think there could be some exceptions put on that. Like... when I was 11, I got a role in a movie, and I remember there were some difficulties about me receiving the money I earned. I am not just talking about the fact that the money didn't go to me directly, but my mother, but also I think there was an increased tax or something.
I do not really care about the Slovak laws when it comes to age restrictions, so you can clearly see I am sorta stuttering around here.

#233 At this moment I cannot think of anything that I think is age restricted but shouldn't be.
edit: Smoking and drinking are restricted to 18 here.

Legal drinking age should be lowered to 18, in the U.S.
By the time I hit 21, and I realized that I actually had to pay for my alcohol, I lost almost all interest in drinking. Not to mention the whole, "old enough to fight and possibly die for your country but not old enough to buy alcohol," situation.
Also, I can't help but feel like we should be teaching older children about psychology and sociology earlier than we do. Most people don't learn about either until high school at the very earliest; if you're like me, you didn't have the opportunity until college. I think that learning some of the basics early would help kids to better understand things that they go through on a day-to-day basis, like bullying and peer pressure. I think 11-12 would be a good age to start learning those things.

I'd say lower drinking age to 18, but have some sort of test to ensure the drinker is responsible.
I wish I could give suggestions on age restrictions to increase too...

Work restrictions should be lightened. I think a lot of the problems from society come because adults have no work ethic.

and how are they to learn a work ethic when they're fired by their employers and replaced by their children?

Personally I think the age of watching pornography should be brought into line with the age of consent (not that I'm a fan of pornography, I just think the approach to it is schizoid). A couple of 16 in this country could film themselves having sex, just not watch themselves having sex, for instance.
As for crime: I'm sort of ambivalent on this topic. Before the age of five, the child will not demonstrate a theory of mind and thus cannot really empathise (though they may be distressed by another's pain). Before the age of twelve, the child will not understand the implications of death. The brain does not fully mature until twenty-five. However, I'm assuming many of the mediating factors for children are not considered for adults with severe handicaps. For instance,
Warren Hill
over in Georgia probably did not understand the implications of the crimes he was committing. I remember reading of a case of a man with similar disabilities being educated by a state in order to bring him up to the threshold for execution, which struck me as inane: he clearly wasn't at that level when he committed the crimes or was tried. My friend who got a First in Criminology and is currently studying it at Cambridge says current research suggest imprisonment actually increases recidivism compared to more lenient sentences. She didn't propose a causal mechanism, but I'm guessing there may either be an element of resentment, criminal socialisation (initiation, fraternisation with other criminals, outgroup discrimination against law and order) or possibly institutionalisation. Countries with rehabilitatory approaches (Norway) rather than punitive approaches (US) show lower rates of recidivism. While crime fell past the 80s in concord with increased rates of imprisonment in the US, it also dropped in Canada where there was no such increase in imprisonment. Chomsky posits that the increase in imprisonment rates (the US imprisons a greater proportion of its population than any other country) was due to the criminalisation of blacks: sentences for crack cocaine possession were 100* more severe on average than sentences for powder cocaine possession, largely (he suggests) because powdered cocaine was more expensive and attracted a richer clientèle. So I don't think a more punitive approach to teenagers will be successful as a whole. However, a certain subset of criminal teens will be, IMO, psychopaths. While therapists will
not
diagnose a teenager with psychopathy before eighteen and are loathe to even diagnose an oppositional disorder, I am of the opinion that psychopathy is an innate dysfunction of the brain and unrelated to socialisation. In my opinion, violent criminals should be screened for psychopathy and institutionalised permanently if they are psychopaths. I'd take the same approach for paedophiles. I think it'd be more successful than reducing the threshold for culpability or giving harsher sentences.

If you had to choose, and tomorrow was the day, how would you die?
The caveat of it being tomorrow is to prevent everyone saying "old age." What would be the either least unpleasant or the most memorable or meaningful (depending on which you would prefer) way that you could think of to die, if you had to choose?

Can I just get a pillow and fall asleep and die? That'd be nice. It'd be nice right now, actually. F.
