If Watership Down came out in 1996, I was in High School already.
I incidentally had never heard of it, but the Wikipedia synopsis made me think of Secret of Nimh, which is also an amazing kid's movie which I am now adding to my list.
Not sure if this has already been mentioned or not but the Watership Down animated movie was released in 1978, a year before I was born, but I remember watching it when I was 8 or 9 and I was absolutely petrified lol. I remember my Dad lending me his copy of the book not long afterwards and even in print it wasn't always a pleasant read.
edit; I didn't even know that the Sercret of Nimh had been released as a movie as I have only ever read the book. Is it worth a slightly sad, almost middle-aged man picking up a copy?

Secret of NIMH is excellent. Though I confess I haven't read the book, so I don't have any comparison to base it on. But I've been a fan since I first saw it in theaters back when it was released. And this isn't rose-colored-glasses talking, I watched it again a couple months ago.
My list: Secret of NIMH, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal.

The movie is really excellent. I am a full grown adult and I would recommend picking one up.
EDIT: Awww Orangutan's list is the same as mine.

You have excellent taste, Elhonna. :D
I debated putting Neverending Story on there too, but then I realized that would mean I'd have to sit through the Swamps of Sadness again. Not happening.

OMG- How did I forget Neverending Story? Has to be on there.
You're not, like, one of my siblings or my cousins, or something, are you?

I would say you are distasteful, but I think you want attention, which, actually, makes you sad and annoying at the same time.

Not that I'm aware of! I'm pretty sure I'm the only one in my extended family that knows what video games are, let alone posts on a board dedicated to one. :)

I see- I have a whole bunch of them. Two brothers and a cousin I know for sure are into games, and two of the three play wow. Sorry for your lack of gaming roots.

My sister is watching "The Witches" right now. Great show, but scared the hell out of me. Probably all Roald Dahl films. Also Ferngully, to turn them into little eco-terrors.

I didn't mind Ferngully all THAT much. I've seen worse.
