MyTie,
Of course while I did say I prefer a more "personal" approach, I do live in an area where opening day of deer season is pretty much considered to be Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July wrapped up in one.
So with that, I offer my 7mm Remington Model 700, 2 Marlin 30-30's, and 1 Ruger 10/22, as well as a Russian Makarov 9mm Mak, and a Ruger Mk III bull-barrel Hunter Model to the armory.
I also believe that my skills as a Communication Infrastructure Desiger for Verizon Wireless should offer us some advantages when it comes to contact with the outside world.

I'm a New Yorker. I can function the best in small spaces, and have had the most exposure to infection/disease and thus am least likely to have sickness problems (also I have the immune system of a grizzly bear. It sucks, I never get to miss school). And I'm an Ex-Jew so I know what it's like to fast and can function while hungry.
Also, if it for some reason comes down to a Melee tournament, I play a sick Fox/Falco, and a moderate Captain.

Hmm. My skill set: Bushcraft, tracking, rope work above and below ground, food growing and cooking, navigation, silent movement, infiltration and sabotage. Archery, though no real knowledge of guns. Music and morale boosting! Conflict mediation.
Who wants me? Be warned, I don't take too well to being ordered about with no good reason!
One thing troubling me; it's island war, and nobody seems to have put down any nautical skills...
But it's an island, we don't need ships!

How would you like to work for the Soviet Randomness, good Sir Thror? We can supply you beer, cake, beer cake, and nachos! Nachos which were stolen from the cold dead hands of our enemies - and by that I mean bought from the local grocery mart.
We also have dental.

I'd like both Pikey and Thror- is that greedy?
PS- We still haven't decided exactly HOW we're deciding who wins. We should probably decide on rules. Where's Funden?

Ok. I like that, and was thinking something similar. We just need a volunteer.
I also think we need a basic structure for how we lay out the plan:
Do we get a certain amount of prep time, and if so how much? That is going to make a difference for shipping, gun permit wait times, shopping, people who want harder to get equipment, etc
Do we have to back up resources- do we need some kind of proof that we have a gun license, a trust fund, a collection of guerrilla warfare gear that may or may not be legal, etc., or do we take all that on faith?
If we are deciding that it's the real us, and we're bringing things we have or could afford to buy, does that allow us to use resources for manpower, or is the strict rule it's only the actual people on Wowhead. (I think it should just be us, but I'd like firm rules one way or the other).
Is there a "setup" time when we get to the islands, in terms of making structures and fortifications, or do we roll up on shore and say "go"?
Are there rules of engagement about what it takes to win? Can we form alliances or is it one island left standing?
Other countries- we know they exist, but are they able to factor at all into the game, other than as a place to shop or start from? Again, I'd say no, but I'd like to see firm rules.
Do we have one round of planning, or do we maybe get a reaction round or 2 after the first plan has been sent to the judge?
Also, I assume that we'll have standard transportation of us and our equipment to the island, not counting resources, because it's be hard to calculate travel costs to a made up place, and many of us can't afford a ticket to Disney, never mind a private boat to a remote island. We should establish a map, though, of how far away each island is, and how large, and where the food & water supplies are (ahead of time), so that we have all of the physical scale laid out to plan attacks and transportation.
@Boron- But who are you throwing in with?

I'd be happy to moderate (ho ho ho)....
If I could suggest a couple of starting rules of engagement:
1) Supply drop. Anything you want/need needs to be airlifted to said island. That includes any vehicles you may choose to requisition / construct in order to get you from one island to the other. Delivery is free, just need to cover the costs of purchase.
2) 1 week cease-fire time to set up structures and forts.
3) It seems reasonable that we could do this in daily turn-based 'real time', which would give people a chance to scout/see what others are doing and prepare / react accordingly. And if you're caught snoozing and not on the forums / emailing the ref, then that's your loss.
4) No people other than those from Wowhead that you've recruited to join your team.
5) Only stuff that we have, and to be taken on face value. I think things like gun licenses and the like are probably flexible - unless there's something about you that would prevent you from going out and applying for a gun license, it's reasonable to consider that you have / can get one.

So no ability to buy equipment? Other than the cost of the boats? Or do you mean only things you have or could afford with what you have?
