Exactly. So, what do you think made this a story at all?
Oh thats easy, a slow newsday is what made this a story. The media does it all the time.

Yes MyTie, I see Chik-Fil-A as a standard business, going off the idea that's existed since the written word was put down: There is no bad publicity, and if you do something that causes a furor, people will come and see what the hub-bub is about.
There is no bad publicity for businesses? Where did you hear this? Here's
a nice article
for you to read.
But, this is, again, a dodge. I'm not asking if the publicity is "good" or "bad". I want you to back up your logic that Chic Fil A wanted the publicity from the appreciation day it got, instead of attributing it to the people that called for the appreciation day. I notice you are doing everything in your power NOT to answer the question I asked you about the Adamsm appreciation day making you conceited, so I'll answer it for you, because we both know the answer. No, it would not make you conceited for me to call an appreciation day for you, because you wouldn't be the one calling it, I would. Therefore, logically, it wasn't for attention that Chic Fil A answered the reporter's question honestly, supporting the same values they have supported for YEARS. It wasn't for attention that Chic Fil A did NOTHING ELSE, while Mike Huckabee called for the appreciation day. The CEO answered a question exactly as he always had. That's all he did. Magician's question, which you answered "yes" to was a well worded question that the only answer to was "no". I'm putting pressure on you because you are a logical person, and
I KNOW
you know the answer to it was no. I'll quote him again for you:So A Christian news outlet asks a question to a company that has been known to be owned and operated since its beginnings as a Christian based company about its views on the traditional definition of a family, and they relply that they believe in the Biblical definition.......that is somehow "trying to get free publicity for itself"? The mass show of support on Wednesday was not called for by anyone at Chick-Fil-A....it was a post on Facebook by Mike Huckabee that sparked it.Again, regardless of your stance on homosexual marriage, you cannot insist that Chick Fil A was out for publicity. There is nothing to indicate that they were. I haven't seen them in the news since. They aren't grandstanding. It looks to me almost like they want this to all blow over, and just sell sandwiches. Probably because there is such a thing as bad publicity.Exactly. So, what do you think made this a story at all?

Yes, but what makes it a continuing story? What drives this into the news over and over?

What makes any story continue? Wide spread interest, either real or imagined. A few days or a week from now provided there are no new developments we will all hopefully be on to something else.

#45: Is space exploration worth the money?
Depends: Unmanned space exploration? Sure, send out the drones, send out the probes, learn all we can about this crazy mixed up universe we live in.
Manned Space Exploration? Not so much.
Post by

Not at this point, no. We need to develop technology on Earth that makes other world settlement possible.

Yes, but then again I don't think all that highly of money ;o.

I don't think highly of money, but I respect the profound impact it can have on my life when government mismanages it.

It's an important question regardless of political affiliation. Is one dollar spent on space exploration worth funnelling away from military spending (ignoring the military applications of space technology) or medicare? I'm not sure. I am suspicious of the free market arguments for space travel though.

yes.
but it shouldn't cost 43 billion to make one mission to mars.
unless my eyes deceive me. this is why privatized space exploration is needed.

I think it is worth the money...if you have the money to spend. I would also say that a very nice quality car is worth the money over a beat up used one, but if all you can afford is the used car or the bus, then whether or not the car is a good investment is a moot point.
I don't think we have the money to spend on space exploration right now. If you want to talk about a good place where money could be diverted from to help the deficit or finance social programs, that's a good place to start. We can debate on whether or not we spend too much on the military or social programs, but most people will agree that in order for the country to function and be secure we need SOME military budget, and that (in at least the more extreme circumstances, if you're generally small government), some social safety net is a good thing. The question is always how much do we need, and how much is wasteful or having negative effects.
With things like space exploration, arts funding, new town and state monuments, etc., they're great if we have the money, but they're not more important than food and safety. If we're running at a deficit where we can't even afford the basic necessities we're spending on without going further into debt, why are we continuing to spend on things that are luxuries for the country?

Would depend on why it's meant to be for the good of the many against the need of the one.

if i can guarantee without a doubt that 10 will die if i do not intervene, i will be the sword of vengeance and take his life. "WITHOUT A DOUBT"
but why take his life if i can capture him, put him in a jail cell
if i can capture him, put him in a cage rather than killing him, i would.
