I tried to log on the beta today to test the pet battle system, and all 150+ of my pets were GONE. Deleted as if I'd never collected one, and the relevant achieves gone as well.
Am I the only one having this problem?
There used to be a bug months ago that causes your pets not to show up, try re-copying your petchar from live to beta and you should have them back. :)
OT: Are the moonkin hatchlings useable? I'\d love to have them in my team ^^
According to the list Wowhead has, yes, the Moonkin Hatchling is useable.
As for Kitty's problem, you said PTR, did you mean to say Beta? That could be your problem, hehe. If not, the only solution I can think of is to do a fresh install after deleting associated files.

The good news is; I can't load any characters either.
The bad news is, well, I can't login either... It probably means it's a server issue and not on our side :)
That's odd though, hopefully for you it works again once the servers are smoother :)
Hmm, let me try logging in, see if there is indeed a server problem.
Edit: Seems to be, I'm stuck at "Retrieving characters." Perhaps it'll be fixed soon...

Oh good it's not just me then.
I can get to the character select list, but I can't get past about 80% on the loading screen!
I can't create a new character either.

Yup, there's a
thread
about this bug(?) on the MoP forums.

Spammers are so nice. Also glad we know it is indeed a bug.

This sucks, haha. I was enjoying the pet battles too, before I rage-quit because a LUA error caused me to get stuck in a battle... I can't wait to get on and do some more testing.
And it appears to be fixed. Back to testing I go!

One thing I would like to see, and something I have halfway done, is a list of the rare pets that we can already have, broken down into their species
For instance
Dragon
Azure Whelpling
Crimson Whelpling
Emerald Whelpling
Undead
Frosty
Aquatic
Chucky
Etc
My plan is to have 30 rare pets (3 of each category) when it launches and train all those up. So far humanoid and mechanical seem to be very light in this regards, which means they will probably be the first ones I hunt for in the wild to try to find a rare.

Added a few things to the main post, including a for Mists release :)
Woulda done some of that last night but my internet died halfway through my editing spree so I had to save what I'd done in a word document for later.

I was talking about Mop on my realm people wanted to know how you start a pet battle, I said it is just like starting a duel is that right?

I would assume so, I'll find out for you, give me a few minutes.
Edit: Yes, it's just like going for a duel. You right click their portrait and find it in the drop down menu.
Edit2: There's also a "Looking for Battle" option in the pet menu that matches you against people whose active pets' levels are similar to your active pets' levels.

Just to point out that if you duel friends, your pets do not gain experience.

I did not know that so much for leveling my pets by dueling my raid group.

Not surprised they did that, you could effectively powerlevel your pets that way by having max level pets vs low level pets and the owner of the max level pets just passing each turn while their pets get smacked around.

We need someone to make a strong/week chart. As in this move is super effective.

Not completely pet battle orientated, but it is
relevant
for those on pvp servers or who get flagged while in contested zones.

It's relevant :PWe need someone to make a strong/week chart. As in this move is super effective.
I could work on that sometime I s'pose, my weekends a little busy though. It shouldn't take too long, all the weaknesses/strengths are found in the pet journal, just not in one consolidated place, so I'll just have to look for em and arrange em.

I might be able to find them here on the site but any table I would try to make would look UGLY. You make things much nicer. We could also try begging the mods to make pretty and clean charts for us.

I'm a little afraid of trying this out, not because I think its bad or boring, but because once the pandora's box is open, good luck trying to close it.
last time I played a "mons" game (Pokemon Red) I got addicted to it badly.
Maybe its not such a good idea to try that again =S

Despite your fears of addiction, I think you should try it, it is fun. You could try to restrict the time you spend on it, by, say, only working on your pets while you're in queue's for things, or waiting for something. Remember, unlike most "mons" you can log out whenever, so you might be able to fight the addiction better :P
