New content, or refining old content?

Which one do you prefere?
I'd definately have to say refining old content. Ever since TBC, Azeroth has become really outdated. Raids that were once ran almost every day are now dead zones, and when comparing the quality of leveling in Azeroth as opposed to leveling in Outland, you'll quickly see which one is inferior.

The old raids were fun but basically badly designed. To quote someone else's post, "you could kill anything in MC with two decent tanks and healers and 36 retards". I meet people who ran BWL and Naxx and sucked in xpac because there's more personal responsibility. Consider that on most TBC bosses, even entry level ones, there are hazards that can kill an inattentive player, and a mistake by one player can wipe the whole raid. That wasn't the case in vanilla WoW.
Blizzard made a very wise decision to fix lowbie itemization. Why it took them two years, considering that one person could sit down with pencil and paper and make the necessary calculations within a few hours, is beyond me.
Unlike many engineers, I don't see the need for Blizzard to create new versions of each and every vanilla WoW engineering item. If they can create a new paradigm for the profession that gives it utility and a fun factor, that's great too.
I'm not interested in new content either. Most of the new content consists of narrow grinds. I'm more interested in permanent, unique rewards, or infinitely scalable rewards. Earlier I gave the example of fixing world PvP, or PvP in general, so there are rewards for increased performance, without making it into an endless grind as it was pre-xpac. Likewise the TBC factions are lame - a crazy grind to exalted, then you move on. Most good recipes drop off a single world mob, which means more grinding, rather than making them world drops and letting the market decide. On the other hand, I like recipes that drop off a single boss, since it means crafters can become wealthy off a single recipe they were lucky and determined enough to get from killing a heroic boss repeatedly, earning other rewards (badges and nether) in the process.
I would like Blizzard to refine the framework of the game, rather than update old content. Examples include fixing world PvP, making BGs faster and more competitive, making the profession grind from 275-300 easier (especially with regards to the mining and use of thorium, felcloth and mooncloth), continuing to introduce more world events and holidays, making arena gear harder to obtain, and improving professions by buffing LW and combining it with skinning and making BS offer more utility (especially for paladins and armorsmiths). They should also make the gear transition from Azeroth to Outland less dramatic by buffing the gear that drops in level 40-60 instances and reducing itemization values for low level Outland greens and blues. They should improve offspecs such as balance, demonology, and retribution, giving them more utility without increasing their DPS. Finally, there should be more ways to spend gold in the game - I previously proposed a monetary equivalent of the old honor system.
Do all that and give us engineers a 310 mount, and that'd be peachy.
I agree entirely. The old raids were, as you mentioned, fairly easy to finish as long as you had good tanks and healers. That why I think it's important to fix these raids, making them more challenging and rewarding.
Another things they should fix up is the old-world reputation, or perhaps reputation as a whole. I'd admit it now that I haven't ever had end game experience (apart from extensive PvP on PTR premades, teehee) but from what I see of the lower level factions and even some higher ones, it just seems to be a massive grind to Exalted just to get a few rewards. You'll probably remember how Blizzard implemented the Tranquillen faction; a lowbie faction in the Ghostlands which allowed you to buy some really solid low level gear once you get a higher reputation with them. I think this should become much more common at lower levels.
A perfect example of where a Tranquillen-like faction could be implemented is the Westfall Militia. You could be awarded reputation by killing Defias and eventually be able to buy cheap rewards once you hit Friendly, Revered, Exalted, etc. Another good place to implement factions would be in STV (a Grom'Gol faction and a Rebel faction).
I agree that the definately need to fix World PvP, and by that I don't mean Silithus etc., I mean random World PvP. They should definately add incentives to raiding enemy towns, but not too many incentives so that places aren't constantly assaulted. I always found it quite exciting when the enemy faction raided SW or Org, but since TBC it almost never happens anymore.
