Okay, here are just a few problems with gun control in the USA, Pikey.
1. Quite a few citizens already own guns. Putting more gun control laws in place would not only require those citizens to surrender their weapons (hopefully for compensation, but who says what's fair in that case?), but would also allow violent criminals who already own them to keep them, unless houses are regularly searched (thoroughly) for illegal arms.
2. I live in Texas, on the border with Mexico. The Mexican Drug War has a really big influence on us, even if it's only underground. My father keeps his guns out of fear that that could spill over onto us (say, if Mexican gangsters were to raid the wrong house).
3. Here in the United States, the right to bear arms is right there in our Bill of Rights. It was put there because of the Framers' belief that it is the duty of the people to overthrow or abolish oppressive government. See our Declaration of Independence:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
To deny that right would require a fairly major amendment to our Constitution, and the removal of a right that one could argue is a central pillar to our system of government. The Framers built the system with a way to combat corruption, and removing that is seen as dangerous by a large number of people.

#355: What fake sport do you wish it was real?
Many movies, books, tvshows, or games, set in the future, or alternate fantasy, often include fake sports. Sports that just by laws of physics are impossible in real life. Which of these sports do you really wish was real?
You can name more than one.

How do you know that Nun Wrestling doesn't already exist? You never know what goes on behind those doors.

I'm SHOCKED nobody mentioned Poke-battles. (yes, technically speaking pokemon is a form of competition)
However my first pick would be pro-bending from Legend of Korra.

You see, I was umming and ahhing about that, because it involves so much animal abuse. I disapprove of cockfighting and the like, so I'm not sure I'd be terribly comfortable with Poke-battles, to be honest.

I also don't feel like it would be terribly different than its virtual equivalent. In both cases you're not really taking part in the action yourself like you would with all the other suggestions.
