It depends on the game; for most RPG's and fighters I go for 100% completion, but other games I play them once then forget about them.

Not if it requires collecting small items hidden all over the place.

I'm thorough, but I don't need to do EVERY single thing. Especially in MMO's other than WoW, which my BF always wants me to try then gets bored of before I'm even half-way done leveling.

I'm half-half.
If its story-related, then yes I'm a completionist, I refuse to move onto the main campaign, until I've solved every single sidequest I can, unless they're plotless sidequests (Such as the ones in Mass Effect 1). When it comes to collectibles, its also a mixed bag. If its something I can use and I WANT to use, I go through the effort of collecting them. If its a collectible that's there purely for the sake of collecting and doesn't actually DO anything, then no, I don't collect it.
So you wont see me grabbing all those hidden flags/feathers/calendar pages in assassin's creed, but you will see me trying to find all the hidden frogs in Metal Gear Solid 3.
I guess it really boils down to the game really, the only games were I've aimed (and reached) Complete 100% total of everything, are the Metal Gear Solid games, and the Hitman games.
In wow for example, I'm not really that into pet collecting, or mount collecting. If its a pet/mount I want, then I'll go through the pains of having it, but if its something I don't intend to actually use, then I usually don't bother.

Like most others, it depends on the game and what you have to do.
In Assassin's Creed I go about rebuilding the city/shops/homestead and working on that. If I see a feather I grab it, but I won't go out of my way looking for them. I did collect all the peg legs though for the extra item in AC3. I'll also go and get all the Viewpoints.
Games like Mario, where you have coins to collect, I try to get as many as I can. Going back and playing the levels tons of times. My mother and I would do that when playing some games. Years ago when Crash Bandicoot was out we would get the crystals, gems and time trial relics. We also did that in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

I used to be more of a completionist when I had more time for gaming. I completed Baldur's Gate 2 like seven %^&*ing times, and over all those playthroughs, I have memorized all of the sidequest locations. I am generally an extreme completionist in Infinity engine RPG's. I have to say that I do not shy from using a walkthrough here and there. Seriously, the ones that are on GameBanshee, for instance, are just too awesome to pass on. The reason why I am using them is not really that I would not be able to complete quests that I am given, but that I am very much afraid of missing a hidden quest. So I like to make sure that I have picked up
everything
that was available to me.
Oh I have also completed Arcanum a lot of times, and am a super completionist in that one as well.
As a kid, I spent hundreds of hours playing Final Fantasy 8. As I finished the game, I always had an almost fully complete collection of cards (with like 10 missing for various reasons), obviously all characters and GF's levelled to 100, all of the best weapons (way too easy to obtain), all characters with 100 uses of Ultima, Meteor and Aura (running circles around the Island Closest to Hell/Heaven, good times), and such.
In recent games, It has sort of worn off, but it also depends on the nature of the game. If it is a game that is very story driven, like Assassins Creed, I do not really care about doing everything on 100%, but in exploration based games I can still go and explore every nook and cranny and exhaustingly chat up all the NPC's. The most completionist I have gotten recently has been in Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim, I have really gone in-depth in those two games.
I am really looking forward to the release of Wasteland 2, which is getting close, and as a backer, I will be granted a copy instantly.

#359: Over the course of your life, how many different homes (houses, apartments, dorms, etc.) have you lived in?

Lived, or stayed? i.e. do you count hotels and the like that you might travel through?

#359 That is a good question
I thought about it and decided that I would strictly go with the places where I have had mail delivered to. I also did not double count the several times that I went from my parents house to the ship I was stationed on during the cruises that I participated in.
The count that I came up with is 22. That may seem like a lot, but that includes several moves growing up as a Navy Brat, several during my time in the Navy, and the several with the company that I currently work for. My wife on the other hand last count that I recall her saying was in the 50s, much due to her father moving them many times, her first husband being in the navy and the various moves with me since I got out of the Navy.

If you look at my response a few down I went with having mail delivered. If I went with hotels and such, my mind boggles with the number probably being close to the 1000 range.

Of places I would call home, 3.
My house growing up, my apartment I rented on my own for 3 years, and the house we live in now.
Of places I have lived though, 5.

nah, places were you lived a significant amount of time. At least a couple of months if not more.
