That'd be a great idea. I'd vote for "Don't stop Believing"
Oh god no. That song has been overplayed ad nausea where it does actually make me physically sick.
I'm not going to sing, obviously, but just no.
On the actual topic of the qotd, no, but I love power miming and reenacting music videos behind the cover of... well... privacy. :p

#341: Console or PC?
Question is simple folks, when playing videogames, do you prefer consoles, or PCs? (Macs count as PC too ;P)

Depends on the game. I'd rather play Super Mario on NES than PC emulator. That said, most games on PC. Driving games on console. Etc.

It really depends on the game. I was going to pick PC but then I realize that I really only play WoW nowadays lolz.
If I had a choice, I would pick console. But games like WoW or Starcraft or LoL, those need a PC.

I genuinely can't decide. I'll go with console though, because my PC is outdated (and I'm not playing games on my laptop tbh).

I used to have a playstation when I was a kid, and I really had a lot of happy fun tiems with that, but nowadays I just game on PC. Consoles have become so expensive that I really can not afford them. Heck, I would find PC's difficult to afford if it wasn't a necessity for my job. That's one thing I really do not like about consoles. They are purely made for gaming. Sure they have some multimedia capabilities too, but I just do not give a *!@# about a console being able to play DVD's when what I want is Photoshop and 3DS Max. So in that way, they feel like a super novelty that is far from my financial reach.
I also really like mouse+keyboard controls, they are really precise for things like cursor movements and obviously shooters (I hate to see shooters played on an xbox. I have played a few myself, the Gears of War, Halo and Mass Effect 3, and seriously, they control like *!@#. I become like twenty times less accurate than I am with a mouse.) On the other hand, I can't deny the superiority of a gamepad for things like platformers, where it really helps to be able to move in more than eight directions (4 arrow keys + 4 combinations of two arrow keys). Like, I bought Sonic Generations for PC, and I just hate playing it on PC. It is not a bad port really, I did manage to get through a bunch of levels with keyboard keys, but I know for a fact that if I had a gamepad I would be doing much better, cause it is just a good genre for gamepads. Same goes for Trials Evolution, for instance. Solid PC port, but still controls better with a controller.
There are a few console-exclusives that really make me wish I had a console though. Red Dead Redemtpion, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy (not 13), and I believe even Pokemon games count among those. Seriosly, why don't they make Pokemon for the PC. Damn you Nintendo. Nobody cares about your promotion for your hand held consoles, they are getting overwhelmed by smart phones anyway.

Windows and Linux are the only systems I need for gaming. The only consoles I really care about I can emulate nearly flawlessly on my pc. There are around 6 console-specific games from the current generation that I'm sad about not being able to play, but that's about it.

Pretty much this, bar Linux. Linux remains an incomprehensible bog for me (though I haven't really tried).

I enjoy both but I'm a PC gamer now.

I enjoy both but for me the PC stands out due to customization and price, and consoles don't have mindless flash games for me to play when I need to lose my mind.

Given that I use a PC primarily, PC, but I will admit consoles have their merit (no need to spend over 1000 dollars for a system that plays the same games a console can, etc).

I vastly prefer PCs to consoles.
The reasons are many but the chief among them is the PC's customization and optimization vs the console's static nature.
Take a look at skyrim, PC version can be moded to no end, console? not so much.

PC. I vastly prefer keyboard / mouse to controllers, I vastly prefer sitting by a PC with a widescreen monitor right in front of me to playing consoles with the TV screen further away and I vastly prefer playing games on the same device I do everything else (well, mostly*) on. And yeah, customisation / power user control.
Why people want to play f.e. shooters on consoles is a complete mystery to me.
the PC's optimization vs the console's static nature.
I'm guessing you didn't mean from a technical point of view because consoles are inherently (PC games have to work with a broad range of hardware and software, console games only have to work with one specific setup) better optimised for the games they play and vice versa in that regard. :p The only exceptions are games that are released on multiple consoles and where one or the other version is a #$%^ty console to console port (which is sort of ironic, at least to a PC user who has to endure any number of &*!@ty console to PC ports).
* When PCs also double as espresso machines, my life will be complete.

#342: Do you think game publishers today rely too much on their existing franchises?
It seems today that everything we see is sequels, prequels, reboots, and remakes of already well established franchises. Rarely we get to see a brand new franchise out there, like Dishonored, or Dragons Dogma.
For example, Bioware used to be a company that would come out with a new franchise every few years. Baldur's Gate, followed by Neverwinter, followed by KOTOR, followed by Jade Empire, followed by Mass Effect, followed by Dragon Age, and then................... nothing but sequels to ME and DA
I suppose I can't blame devs for this. New franchises are always a gamble, maybe they're well received, or maybe they're not. Maybe the protagonist becomes a beloved part of the gaming culture (Shepard) or becomes one of the most hated symbols associated with games (Tingle). A well rooted, well established franchise removes this risk, and will ensure players buy the game whether its good or not. (If they LIKE the game is something else entirely, but just by being based on a popular IP ensures it will sell)

I don't know that there are any more sequels coming out today then there were 10 / 15 / 20 years ago. I know I grew up on dozens of sequels. And I don't really have any problems with sequels, old or now.
