Care to elaborate?
To be completely honest, no, I'd rather not.

Out of curiosity... why?
Also, you missed my other question.

Out of curiosity... why?
Sometimes there is a fear to go beyond the talking points, or perhaps, there hasn't been much thought put into the topic beyond the talking points.

Or maybe he's told the stories about the old lady who @#$%^ed him out for wearing a pentacle and the *!@#$%^s who would mess with him in high school on these forums a dozen times, and expects older posters like you and Funden to know them by now.

Sure, I've heard these stories before. I've also had the same types of things happen to me as well, so they're not holding much water. Unless he can pull up an actual reason for why the majority of Christians are hateful people, I will be forced to disregard his points.

And MyTie just made the point of why I won't be elaborating.
Sufficient to say, for myself at least, I haven't found a thing within Christianity that seems to work with how I view the world.
Edit: Honestly, disregard them all you choose to: I don't care. I know how I feel in regards to that religion, and I have yet to see anything that changes that view for me.

I've been inspired by Adamsm. I'm going to update this thread with my experiences "in Christianity". I hope these little insights can help educate the people here who are uniformed about what Christianity is all about. Maybe it will promote my culture, and tolerance for my way of life.
Went to Church today. We had a sermon about mothers. We did some singing. We talked about one of our members who has cancer, and another with a heart condition. We talked about helping their families, if we can.
That's my experiences today with Christianity.

I would be surprised if he actually believed that. It would be kind of a dumb thing for him to think, considering he just called somebody else out for making the assumption that most Muslims are violent people.

I don't care.
Then why post? All it does is make you look like one of those guys who will take any chance he has to badmouth someone, but can't back it up when questioned, so they mutter something generic and sidle away.
Which, incidentally, is what it looks like you're doing now.

Usually, it would be.

Adamsm springs to the defense of Islam, whenever anyone give anecdotal evidence. Adamsm immediately laments the actions of Christians, based on anecdotal evidence. Why doesn't he DEMAND that people explain that "not all Christians are like that". The double standard... is most entertaining.

I don't like Christianity, I'm not a believer in their version of God, and when I do pass away I sincerely doubt I'll be burning in their version of Hell.
Sure, there are those Christians that do live 'love, peace and tolerance' lifestyle; but I've seen just as many give lip service and then go around and do the things they aren't suppose to. Live the life of Sin and all that other stuff.
As I've said: I don't see anything within Christianity that speaks to my soul in any way. If that's not good enough for people, too #$%^ing bad.

Not saying Adam does this, but I notice that a lot of people kind of do this these days. Every religion has its bad eggs, and anybody can tell that the bad eggs in Islam that blow up schools and chop people's heads off, are worse than the Christian bad eggs that bully people and picket funerals. Just wanna throw a disclaimer in here that again, neither group represents the majority.
Because of how bad their extremists are, people who do judge the group by the minority come down very hard on Islam, and there is a lot of Muslim hate over it, especially this past decade. Because of
this
mentality, people will jump to Islams defense, even over a more peaceful religion like Christianity, because of how much hate it gets.

Wrong. I said that I had seen you post those two experiences before and that they don't hold much weight. I asked for more evidence, which you refused to supply.
Incidentally, you still haven't answered
And yet the media and new stories I read about Christianity seems to show my experiences aren't one off things;
Like what?
I don't like Christianity, I'm not a believer in their version of God
Yet you won't say why. If you won't, why do you keep protesting? It seems rather self-defeating, to me.

So nearly getting the $%^& kicked out of me quite often in school, having people call me names, insulting me, telling me that I'm going to Hell, telling me everything I believe in is a lie, telling me that I have no morals, insulting my chosen religion, and as I've already mentioned, pretending one thing and then doing another, aren't enough?
Yes, those people are not as a whole a good representation of Christianity, but when you see their like in the news, hear the stories about others who have gone through the same !@#$, it's very hard to feel any sympathy at all towards Christianity.
So, like I said, there is nothing within Christianity that provides any type of solace to me. I'll stick with Wicca, and be a happier person for it.

I agree with all of this. I think it's a false dichotomy set up by those who want to appear tolerant and cultural. I think it's silly.

I'd "get" this so much easier if you didn't constantly jump to the defense of Islam.

That's terrible, I agree. I would be just as angry as you in the same situation.
but when you see their like in the news, hear the stories about others who have gone through the same !@#$
This is where I have a sticking point, though. I see almost no stories like this in main-stream news. If you go seek those out... yeah, I guess you'll find them, but it's not as prevalent in the news as you might think.
it's very hard to feel any sympathy at all towards Christianity.
So... you're judging a religion by it's minority, which you just told people not to do for Islam, despite its minority
blowing up schools and using child suicide bombers.
Edit: I'd "get" this so much easier if you didn't constantly jump to the defense of Islam.
Exactly this.
Edit2: Oh, right. Grammar is a thing.

I gotta ask, do you really think the people who hassled you in high school were doing it because they were Christians? Or were they just bullies and doing it because you were perceived as different?
As far as the stuff with the news goes. How can you judge Christianity as hateful based on the actions of Westburo and the like, and not think that Islam is just as evil, if not more so, based on the actions of Al Qaeda?

I also gotta point something out. The fact that you let the things you see on the news influence your opinion of Christianity, even if only by confirmation of feelings you already had, and especially since you admit it likely doesn't represent the majority of the followers of the faith, just goes to prove how easily even intelligent people are manipulated by the media.
What you see isn't proof that Christians are hateful. What you are seeing is the liberal media painting a progressively uglier picture of Christianity.

Or were they just bullies and doing it because you were perceived as different?Seeing as my primary tormenters were led by the son of a prominent member of one of the Churches here, and the rest of the little ass holes were all members of the same Youth Group, as well as the !@#$ they used to say to me; going with the fact that I wasn't a follower of their God and they felt 'right' in attacking me. And it wasn't just other teens I heard things like that; some of the local congregation felt the need to insult me as well.
As far as the stuff with the news goes. How can you judge Christianity as hateful based on the actions of Westburo and the like, and not think that Islam is just as evil, if not more so, based on the actions of Al Qaeda?
More then likely personal experiences tainting my perception.

Or they are focused on the actual uglier groups that are out there, such as the Westboro Crazies; after all, the good groups aren't worth the time on the news.

I'm going to go ahead and chime in here, because I missed a bunch.
Here's the thing. I live in America, I speak English, and most of the people I know are Christians. So that's why I generally argue against hate against Muslims while also discouraging negative behavior associated with Christianity. I can plainly see that radical Islam is usually worse than modern radical Christianity, but I can't speak Arabic, don't live in the Middle East, and don't personally know any Muslims, so I'm not in any sort of position to personally discourage suicide bombing and public executions.
I'm an Atheist. I don't favor any religion over any other. But I'll discourage hatred in any form to those I'm able to speak with.
