i met one of my best friends on wow, i go to his house all thee time now :D
All my friends are meaningful, but I have some that I've been friends since early TBC. I have also made new friends, which make me happy to chat with them. Its been really fun meeting so many people, I know that even though I haven't seen some in a while, they're still important for me ^_^
Met awesome ppl in my guild, played for over 2 years together, sadly the guild fell apart and everyone stopped playing.
I have met a lot of cool people in Azeroth, many of which I am still friend with after years and years of playing the game. Being in game together makes it really easy to keep in touch as well! It's so fun!
I have meet many ppl though WoW some good some bad, but a few are great..If I could I would do what ever I could for these select few..if it wasnt for them I would be lost..they have done so much for me over the years..1 in particular does more than she needs to, but thats why shes such a great friend, even tho I have never meet her in real life..if It wasnt for her, I dont know where I would be right now..who konws maybe dead..she has keep me playing WoW for all these year with her help..WoW is my release from RL life..It keeps me sane and from doing dumb stupid things in real life. Thanks Bel..you are a life saver...=)
paid a first subscription bill and the rest follows.
In WoW I didn't just meet a friend, I met my boyfriend! Three years and counting :)
My story is a long one, but skip to the end if you dont want details. I started playing WoW when I was about 16. I joined a guild called <Apparition> on Staghelm and actually left that same day. I dont know why, but I rejoined. I got to talking to a few people and became good friends with them. After I turned 18 (nearly immediately after) I decided I was going to meet as many of these people as I could. Mind you, I lived in Iowa, and they happened to live in West Virginia, and North Carolina and Missouri. So I took what little money I had, got into my really beat up Oldsmobile (she was like an 88 but was a BEAST) and hit up Missouri first, since obviously it was the closest. . I never skyped with these people, only saw Facebooks. My parents didnt know I had left either because I had moved out of their home. So If i was going to be murdered no one would find me for months. Those three people I met were exactly who they were supposed to be, no murderers or anything, luckily. I stayed two nights there and then and drove to North Carolina. My North Carolina friend was exactly who he said he was, and to this day, he is one of my best friends who lives in Pennsylvania. After North Carolina I drove up to West Virginia where I met a small group of the people I played with, and they too, were all who I had seen online on Facebook. Fast Forward to today, and I have moved to West Virginia from Iowa, I am going to be 22 and am in a relationship with the GM of that guild I left and randomly rejoined on a whim. We've been together for over 2 years, lived together for over one, and I've met even better friends here than I could have ever hoped for. So I guess I owe Blizzard a bit of a thank you, I know that choices played a part (and when you think of all the paths that lead to this, its scary) but you made a game that myself and the love of my life met on.
I met a lot of people through World of Warcraft, but of all of those only 2 stayed and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.I met my best friend in the first guild I ever joined. When we left that guild because of some drama we stuck together and formed our own little guild, eventually getting enough people together to do 10-man raids. During this time we formed a close group of people who we raided with every week, and that's how I also met my now boyfriend. Always the same people, always up for shenanigans, always fun most of the time. I have met several of them IRL and the experience was amazing. It all fell apart in Cataclysm however and the guild stopped raiding. Drama was caused, because it's World of Warcraft (what's a guild without drama?) and the group scattered and/or quit playing altogether. Thankfully there was Skype. When I discovered the existence of Skype we could chat every day even though she did not play at the time, and after all these years we went through hell and back together. Break ups, moving, (mental) Illness, obsessions with angels in trench coats and the devil you know, the adventures we have in Skyrim, Cthulhu, you name it. I still plan on meeting her for a second time because of how important she is to me but I got trapped by a hunter. My boyfriend has been one of the best people I ever had the pleasure of playing and hanging out with since we met in-game. We had a similar set of problems and habits, and since I cared for him a lot I always wanted to make sure he was okay. He did the same for me. We spend years talking and having fun in-game. He was one of the only people I could get to do all the shenanigans with me if I needed help since I loved hunting legendaries and other things that got me killed on my own. I visited him some time after I broke up with my now ex boyfriend, and walked right into it, willingly. I love him dearly. These 2 people are the most important things in my every day life. They might live in different countries. I don't care. If it wasn't for the both of them I'd be lonely and lost. Due to my Aspergers I have a hard time making friends, especially friends worth keeping. Online it's easier to communicate. Thanks to the internet and World of Warcraft I met the very 2 people who I know have stuck with me for a long time, and will be with me, for a long time to come.
(Not competing as I'm located south of the border, but thought I'd share)I had just moved to a new server for a fresh start during mid-lateish BC. I joined a forming guild and most people were really chatty. After a couple of days the GM decided to set a ventrilo server for the guild and after a bit there were some "regulars" even while not in-game.One day, it was like 8pm on a friday night and I was running a heroic with a new guildie. I told him about vent and he decided to give it a shot, we started talking and what not. Then after a couple of days he mentioned he had moved to my city a week ago and didn't know anyone ... I asked where was he living, he was 2 blocks away from me. I immediately dropped over at his place with some beers. He's gettin married on the 15th and I'm his best man. :)
I met my husband on the battlefield of Wintergrasp what seems like ages ago.. We've been married almost a year now. :)
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
Meeting guildmates is kinda usual - been there, done that, including guild barbecues :D However I did build quite a strong friendship with a guildmate. Almost 7 years ago while talking it turned out we were both playing WoW - me on the US servers, he on the EU servers. BC was the perfect opportunity for me to move to the EU servers, and since the start of BC we've been in the same guild. Awesome friend outside WoW as well! :)
Ah, I remember the day like it was yesterday.I was a newbie at the time and I was, admittedly, yelling at that NPC who's trying to find his dog in Bloodhoof Village for whatever reason when this Tauren druid came over and sat down next to me. We chilled in Mulgore for awhile and talked it up; we bonded instantly.I don't know if fate is an actual thing but it's been six glorious years and we're the best of friends. If it wasn't for WoW and my stupidity of yelling at an NPC, I wouldn't have met the best friend I've ever had. Mes, if you're reading this, you're great. Love you long time.
Played with my friend Brian since release. We went from hardcore stuff in naxx40 and sun well to pvping and getting glad together. We still play to this day, texting each other and always staying in touch. If he ever quit wow I couldn't imagine myself enjoying the game the way I do now.
I met my boyfriend of 5 years no on WoW. It's amazing how asking for help with a quest can lead to a real life love. :)
I've met a lot of wonderful people playing WoW. Often it's been from discussions outside of the game with friends, where a stranger overhears us and chimes in to say something like, "Hey, I play that game too!" Otherwise, the friendships that I've made in my guild, with people like the former main tank and former guild master, have been completely awesome. Having a presence online really gives us the chance to meet people and interact with those we normally wouldn't be able to.
I used to hang out in the newbie forums a lot, helping new players with their doubts and so on so forth. There was this really nice young hunter that really looked up to me, always asking me questions as he progressed in levels and experience.I took a break from WoW (medical reasons) for almost a year, and when I returned we met in Orgrimmar. He recognized my name, and I recognized his. We started chatting, he said he really missed my advice but now thanks partially to me he feels like he's a much better player - max level and in both PVP and PVE cores. We ended up adding each other on Facebook. A while later, he introduced me to one of his hunter pals and, well, we've been a wonderful trio of hunter friends for almost a year now. We've all grown very close, we keep in touch everyday (multiple times a day, lol) through group chat on Facebook because we live in different states. I feel they're my extended family, both my long-lost little brothers even though the age difference is smaller than the one between me and my little sister. One of these days I arrived home to a package sent from Hunter#1. Inside was a beautiful purse, a perler beads Cyndaquil + Pokéball, a beautiful necklace matching his, and a card thanking me for being in his life and saying that the presents were for a late Christmas and an early birthday. Hunter#2 also received a package with his favorite chocolate, his favorite band t-shirt, a perler beads Axel from Kingdom Hearts, and a necklace to match ours.No need to say I cried happy tears.PS: I met my second boyfriend in WoW - he was the main tank in my FL core. PPS: I also made a friend as I walked around college campus by making a comment about the Swifty video he was watching, and he ended up becoming my third boyfriend.
Back during TBC I was in a very communal guild. I got to know the guild master who lived in Dublin, about 2 hours train ride from my hometown, and after playing together for around 7 months we decided to have a meet up and discuss guild stuff in person(I was at this point a raid leader for the guild). Coincidentally he knew another member of the guild personally from a summer camp they'd attended a few years ago,who was house hunting in my town the same day he came to visit me. Since then my GM moved over to England and we still occasionally keep in contact, but the other guild mate and I became best friends and see each other all the time, all thanks to WoW. Although I've met a lot of awesome friends on WoW,those two are the ones i'll never forget :)
To this day I'm still very close with the level 32 boomkin I met in stv back in vanilla. We still keep in contact on and offline
