WoW has fostered many amazing friendships over the years, been playing since vanilla and meeting people from all over the world since then. Some notable moments include: the numerous vent conversations that went on for hours, real life meetups, the tears and the trails of guilds and raiding. WoW has provided a unique outlet which helps connect and reduce the barriers many may struggle with, when seeking friendship in their real lives.
I've met several people who not only became my friends but have had an impact on my life. Feels good man. :-)
I would like a pup - but not sure I want my guild mates seeing me- I am a hideous individual.
The guild I was in back when i started playing WoW around 2009. Even though i was a complete newbie the guild (An Australian Guild playing in US-Realm Spinebreaker), the guild treated me like a little brother, comforting me when I'm down and playing wtih me through fun lvling, bgs, heroics. Sometimes when real-life issues come by, they would try and cheer me up, though with little effort. After a year or so being in the guild and still thinking my life sucks, it turned out the Guild Master was sick, though I had no clue as i was still going to school and was limited in playing WoW. However around 2010, when i finally had a stable sub and played WoW a lot more, I noticed the guild annoncement and to my shock, the confirmation that our GM has passed away. I didn't really know what kind of 'sickness' he had, but it was really sad for me because all this time i thought my life sucked, and here was the GM, protecting me like family even though he was in the most struggle.RIP Down Under Thunder, Guild in Spinebreaker.... I MISS you heaps, and even though we never met real life, you are indeed my family whos been kind in my younger years.
I've met many people through WoW, including several guildmates, my former raid leader who has a sister who lives in my town and went to 5th grade with me, a guildie who lives in a neighbor town and gives us all good laughs with his silly jokes... Kinda cool how a MMO can show us how small our world is...
I've met a few people from friends\co-workers that got me to move to their guild. Although those friends\co-workers no longer play, I still have some of those *new* friends to enjoy the game with. Warcraft is so much better with people you know.
i have made a life long friend in wow, we talk over the phone and exchange gifts on xmas everyear. we live is different countries but i am glad we became friends :D
I was leveling in vanilla on my rouge. I met a lvl 54 alliance mage, I was lvl 50 horde. I owned that noob a couple times. After that, every time we saw each other in the game, eg in AV, we started battling. I got dem frostbolts all the time and she got ambush backstabed a few times. Then years later, in WotLK, we met again. Both recognized each other. She made a horde character just to whisper me. Turned out we were both from the same area, and started talking daily.Been together with her since mid Cataclysm :)
I was leveling a goblin once, met a person who turned out to be pretty cool. Shes about to have her baby girl now, so talk about awesome!
I started playing because of a few IRL friends that already did, so I don't need to meet them. :) And I've only met two others ingame. Would love to win the mount though....
It started back in 2007 when I bought my first World of Warcraft I was playing at Drak'Thul and there it started. I had no friends back then in the wow community and no one was there to help me, but suddenly I found a girl named Lurhana a night elf druid you would say it was just an ordinary friend but we get more closed I helped here leveling up and she helped me in times I couldnt play.I stopped playing for few months and then blizzard made new server named Burning Blade and she moved there so I had to make tons of characters on differents realms to find her again. She had all the times the most stupid passwords to remember but it was okay. One thing that I remember most is that we were in Wailing Caverns together when she was lvl 27 and I was just 23 we were lost there for 3 and a half hour because there were no map in-game and I was guessing the way by map opened on google+minimap in game but it was okay by her that we spent there 3 and a half hours because we were there together :). Then we added each other Facebook she is quiet older than me but we are still friends she stopped playing WoW and I am sad for that :( well I was 8 years old when I met her and she was 16-18 probably.I hope we can see eachother in game again.
I met my husband through WoW, he was a Troll Rogue and I was a Night Elf Druid. We played in each our premades and met over and over again in WSG and AB and it started as many innocent /wave... here we are 8 years later - married and all!I believe this will be a lifelong friendship. :)
I met my wife playing WoW. She was our guild's warlock class lead. She helped me be a better player, and for the past five years she's helped me be a better human.
I heard a girl dressed as a zombie at a Halloween party talking about raiding and MoP (pre expansion) so I immediately perked up and jumped into the conversation. To make a long story short, she was a guild-master for "Redeemed" on Shadow Council and I joined forces with her and the group. I have made tons of great friends in the guild, from cookie swaps, to pre-raid phone call analysis. Its been a great group of people that came together as a team to build friendships, and oh yea, play WoW.
Have been friends with people from my first guild back in 2006 to the present. :)
I met my wife for 5 years playing wow, all started with a simple guild rival
If it was still 2005 or early 2006, I would totally want this. Had so many interesting guild members and friends then.Sadly, that's no longer the case in WoW.Most I play with now I already know IRL, and they live close by for the most part. So not much point for me to enter : )GL to those who do enter though!
Too bad we already do this. <B Team> has bi-annual guild barbeques since we're all on the east coast, and I met my husband(Now co-GM) through warcraft.
