Many speculations was mention here already. Jaina and Kul'tiras, Queen Azshara with her naga, continue story of Alleria and her new void powers or Old Gods and even the Void lords as a main badasses in next expansion. All of them are possible and probably at least couple of them will be on the centre of the story after Legion. In my opinion, on the last patch of the Legion we will be sent to heal wound of Azeroth, which was made by Sargeras in his last time on freeness. We are going stop Azeroth bleeding which give us a bit of time to prepare before next challenge (let's be honest, all of the informations tell us it will be connected with void lords ;)). Who will play main role on the next expansion? Jaina, I hope our new king od Stormwind, who was really on the side of Legion story, Malfurion because of his druids powers, to heal Azeroth and maybe even Titans (maybe when we rescue them from the power of Sargeras, they somehow will return)?. I'm wondering if Khadgar can play main role, as he was on the center of the story during WoD and Legion. If not, then what can happen with him? I believe in Blizzard and presumably, they prepare for us some big suprise, which we can't even imagine ;) I can't wait for Blizzcon :)!
N'Zoth and return of the other Old Gods
I really, really want a Void-focused storyline for the upcoming expansion - that said, the Void is behind the Old Gods and the ramifications are all over the place. Why not have the Ethereals as new allies to help us fight the Void?
As far as story I'm seeing Sargeras possessing the body of the broken Titan spirit of Argus, we defeat him, and in a final act of desperation he stabs Azeroth with his blade, unfortunately this fails and just leaves the planet severely wounded but in this act Sargeras, probably unknowingly or not giving a damn, has given N'zoth and possibly the other beaten Old Gods (aside from the dead Y'shaarj) rise and brings in something alone the lines of "Return of the Black Empire" as we scramble to stop Azeroth from bleeding out and stopping the Old Gods and forces of the Void from corrupting the planet. I'm expecting the next xpac pre-patch to be us patching the wound and then seeing the rise of the Old Gods and their minions after we falsely think we may have a moment of reprieve.
Jaina is back in Kul Tiras? Are the blizzcon mounts maybe focused to fly over large waters and show off your fraction pride? Will Jaina or old gods show up in Silithus looking for power? Where will Alleria focus her void power will she be pro or contra for a fraction war? And so on... Questions over questions but much excitement. :)
At this point I think it's all but confirmed that we're getting void stuff in the new expansion. I don't know what we'll be figthing, but I think we will be able to use void powers. Imagine a new spec for every class or some kind of twist so that we become Shadow Monks, Void Warriors, Dark Rangers, etc I think the whole thing with Jaina and Cultiras will be just the opening, one or two zones, possibly culminating with a dungeon. The broad picture has another villain. WHAT ABOUT THIS?Maybe the latest Hearthstone expansion was a hint of what's to come. The return of Garosh, Gul'Dan, Ner'Zul and even Uther, and Jaina and Thrall fall in the process. Anduin wants more power so he can stop the Knights, so he gives in to the void and becomes Shadowreaper Anduin.
Theyve been throwing a lot of void themed hints to be the next xpac. Would be nice to get a south seas theme as well though, explore zandalar and kul tiras properly. If anything, im just hoping we get to see nyalotha. Xalatath hyped it has being more grand than suramar city...
I believe we'll indeed be battling old gods somewhere along the line, just not next expansion. I think we'll patch up the wound as best as we can and a battle between the horde and alliance will erupt over control for the font of power likely created from the wound.
I'm hoping its a expansion similar to Cataclysm. I really enjoyed the spread of zones around azeroth, having the capital cities be hubs again, and fighting on the 'home' world. We've been off planet a while, lets fight here again!
I think that the story will refocus back on to Alliance Horde conflict. Adding Kul Tiras on the Alliance side and the Zandalar(?) on the Horde side. Instead of new classes or races, we'll get some new customization options for our current characters. These could be minor things but a lot of them, or one major thing like sub-races.
Going back to Azeroth to fight the Old Gods sounds very prommesing, I hope you right about that! I think is time to go back to our own beloved planet and fight for it once more. As usual, thanks for this very interesting reading, Nobbel87!
I've heard speculation from other players that we'll be losing our artifact weapons at the end of Legion. Knowing Blizz, it's pretty much guaranteed to happen. So......since there's a ton of stuff about Nyalotha and the Old God/s down there going around, maybe our opening quests for that particular path - or even as the pre-patch event - everyone gets hit with like.....mega corruption or something and it breaks all the weapons. Except the shadow priest weapon. that one just gets massively OP. Maybe it'll be hinted at post-Antorus, given the Silithus scar that's been datamined.Heck, they could even do a bunch of random encounters in the style of Wrath's pre-patch, where instead of turning into zombies as you gain Scourge corruption, you turn into faceless mindlashers or something similar. Or maybe just invasions like Legion's pre-patch. (That was fun.)Anyways. Nyalotha would be interesting as an underwater or partially underwater zone. Lots of spooky color themes, fish floating by, Queen Azshara yelling like Rhonin every so often in chat.... And Jaina takes Khadgar's place as the primary mage/story driver, given that this *would* be jumping from Kul'tiras. (We can only hope.)/ramble
I think we're headed to a second Cataclysm-equse world change but this time its an invasion of N'Zoth's minions.
The Emerald Dream or The Dark Below ;)
I think going back to Azeroth and having it void corrupted/changed again would be really cool. Anything with old gods would be wonderful as well!
Another story on the "main" world would be cool. They can redesign some old zone like they did in Cataclysm. I think the story will take direction of War between the Old Gods. Let's take it to another level !Please don't make murloc playable lol.
Xal'atath has strongly hinted the return of N'Zoth, especially that we needed to "hurry up" and defeat the fallen titan, and that N'Zoth was "stirring." And she has mused that the "weakest" among the Old Gods may be the ultimate victor. With Azeroth's new "injury" to bait evil forces, perhaps N'Zoth will attempt to access that power - we've not faced the full might of an Old God yet, C'thun and Yogg were still in weakened states and confined to "prisons", and Y'shaarj was just fragments of his former self. Also, while Sylvanas and Greymane have been the mouthpieces of the continued animosity between the Alliance and Horde (especially due to the Horde's retreat from the Broken Shore leading to Varian's death), we're due for things to get Factional again - there's still power vacuums in the Horde leadership, while Anduin's finally learned that he'll have to do "what a King must do."
Really good info in this article. Thanks for putting all the time in to write it!
"Dark Below", several, if not most of the zones underground, with various Aqir races being present. The scar in Silithus will be one of the entrances. Kul Tiras may be the launching point for another. Vol'jin will be back, maybe as a lau, maybe just as a spirit bringing some lau to help. We may see some explanation about Elune and her relationship with the Naaru and also the Void Lords. Maybe Elune is the Void Lord of Happiness. I'd like for the Talonpriests from Draenor to show up, and help with balancing the light/void stuff. But I doubt it will happen. I don't think there will be a new race or class. Maybe some customization options for existing races.
Sadly, whatever the story-line, it will involve interminable grinding for reputation, to open gated content and to keep us busy so that we don't get bored and let our subscription lapse.
