Yea I never considered Berserk anything like classic shounen. It's a lot darker and a lot deeper.
Have you seen Claymore yet?
Yea a while ago, read most of the manga too. It's ok, but I wasn't blown away by the artwork.

Now that I think of it, you would probably like it a lot. You mentioned before you liked Hellsing and Gantz, Berserk is a similar genre. I recommend it if you ever need something new to get into.

Heh currently Ryja, I have 6 manga series waiting to be read: Trinity Blood, Megaman NT Warrior, Hell Teacher Nube, Astro Boy and Guyver Bio Booster.
And from what I've seen of Berserk, it's just never drawn me in. /shrug
Though, I was happy when I got home from work: 5 new chapters of
Clover
to read. Now, if the next volume of Terraformars would just be scanned and put up so I can get back to watching humans with bug powers squish cockroach people.

I keep meaning to catch up on Naruto. I always tell myself that I hate it, but once I sit down and actually read the chapters I find myself enjoying it. It's not my usual type of manga, but call it a guilty pleasure. I'm pretty sure when I eventually sit down to read it I'll have hundreds of chapters to go through. The last part I read was when he was still fighting Pain.
And from what I've seen of Berserk, it's just never drawn me in. /shrug
As I recall you said the same thing about Game of Thrones, hmmmmmmm? I still say you would like it once you get relatively deep into the story, but to each his own.
Btw are you currently caught up on the Walking Dead? I know it's not a manga but I didn't feel like digging up the Zombies thread and cross posting :/

Go read 666 Satan/O-Parts; done by the brother of the manga-ka for Naruto, so some art work overlap, but a much better series heh...though, I'm still reading Naruto so go figure.
And series wise I am, but not comic wise.

It's funny you mentioned that, I just had this series recommended to me a little while ago. It's on my list atm.
And series wise I am, but not comic wise. I just caught up on the comics last night. It's really starting to pick up again. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm starting to kinda like Negan. He's like the governor combined with the biggest bully everyone knew in middle school.

I wish there was a way to track just what series I'm reading on mangareader; I've got so many of them ever since I found that site.

I just like Spectrum Nexus on Facebook and they give me updates in my news feed when new stuff is posted. They don't have as large a selection though.

Have any of the rest of you guys watched/read Berserk?
Never heard of it, but I'm liking the description. I might check it out.

I need help from you Anime Gurus :)
Im looking for something to watch.
It's that time of the year where all my watched TV shows have stopped for the rest of the year.
I'm
quite picky
at what I choose to watch.
I love OP, SAO, Fairy Tail, Guilty Crown, FMA.
Tried watching Fate/Zero but too slow and seemed like I was missing half the story.
Don't like Mechs, dont like school kids (although guilty crown was border line, for that stuff, everything else made up for it).
I would like to watch something with good production value,
preferably
a modern artistic style. (not 90's)
Any suggestions? :)

Try Blue Submarine No. 6 for a short one (only about 4 episodes I think). It's really good though.
Otherwise, there's Soul Eater (my favorite). It's sort of school kids, 'cept a witch hunter school. The series also focuses as much on the adults and villains as it does the kids. Second and third seasons are much better than the first.

Soul Eater
That looks good, Thanks :)
My next step was to see what else Funimation works with...

Attack on Titan and Future Diary are both excellent, and both on Hulu.

Ive seen all the hype on AoT, but previews never really caught my eye.
Future Diary's plot seems interesting though :)
Also Hulu doesnt work for australians as far as I know :)

Not that big on Shounen
It's more like a super dark, bordering on horror at some points, medieval fantasy. Think Game of Thrones, but darker and more character driven, as opposed to GOT being about nations and politics.
Shounen is just anime that's aimed at younger males.

Classic shounen has become kind of a genre in and of itself though. When people hear shounen they typically think of things like Naruto, Bleach, One Peace, Dragon Ball, etc. Plus anime aimed specifically at a single group tend to be somewhat one dimensional. Anime aimed only at young males being all flash and action, and anime aimed only at young females being all cutesy and bubbly.
Berserk runs a bit deeper, I know a lot of women that get into it, and it's waaay too %^&*ed up for kids.

I dont read manga, I want to. but I have nothing to read it on (no im not going to sit at my desk to read manga).
I should getmyself a tablet or something.
Reading is something I need to be comfortable to do, and sitting at the computer is definitely not one of those comfortable places for reading.
