Hey Tokidoki,
without having any idea how the current woltlab version works, I can give you a few general hint's how to set up the script. You need some knowledge of how to edit and change things in your woltlab burning board installtion, especially how the Theme/Template-System works and how you can edit / change Themes/Templates.
Log in to your admin-panel and navigate to a point that looks like a Theme Manager or something similar
Select your current Theme and you should see a bunch of templates which you can edit.
Select the template which is responsible for the Header (all stuff which is included within the <head>-Tags).
If you have the right to edit the template, put the script-tag (see initial post) inside the <head>-Tags.
Save your edited template.
This should work. If not, report your problems here.
Are you german (coz Woltlab is a german company)? And which version do you use? The Free wbb-lite or an wbb3-license?
Greetings,
Marcimi

Hey Tokidoki!
Since there is no "real" demo-version of the wbb3-board I can't test it and write up some handy guides. Do you have a sandbox-version of your board installed? I mean a second and hidden board for test purposes (to test new modifications or themes)?
If yes, come on EU-Eredar and send me the login-informations via Ingame-Post. I'll take a look at it over the weekend.
Greetings
and have a nice weekend!

Maybe i can install a version for you on an other ftp of course. ill do that tomorrow and give you the access ;)
Anything new on that? You don't need to install it on a seperate host. A subdomain and a differten sql-table prefix should be enough.
Greetings,
Marcimi

I got a sneak view on the Joomla-CMS and here are a fast and "not so detailed" way:
Log in to your Administration Panel
Go to Extensions > Template Manager
Click an the template name of your current active template
Click on "Edit HTML"
Search for:<head>
<jdoc:include type="head" />
Edit it to:<head>
<!-- WoWHead Tooltip -->
<script src="
http://www.wowhead.com/widgets/power.js"></script>
<!-- End of WoWHead Tooltip -->
<jdoc:include type="head" />
Click Apply
Have fun!

I've messed around with the XML feeds a bit and have modified the current wowhead script to accept straight up item names, as well as recognize custom item tags. It will also color the links according to the correct item quality on mouseover.
You can find all my code here:
http://wowhead-tooltips.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
Here's a sample of what kind of tags / links will be converted:
<a href="
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=Doombringer">Doombringer</a>
<a href="
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28658">Terestian's
Stranglestaff</a>
<item>Earthshaker</item>
<item>22632</item>
Note that this relies on a serverside php script to proxy the XML requests as Javascript does not allow cross-domain requests.
You can see it in action here:
http://www.ritsumei.org/wowhead/
hi,
I'm using this script with the french DB of wowhead (fr.wowhead.com) on my guild's website, and I'm having problem with accents with FF (in IE it works perfectly, even the quality coloring).
Items without accents (ê,é, etc.) show the tooltip and the coloring, and the others don't... but the xml returned from the request is the xml for the right item, but it simply don't format the <item></item> tags in FF (it does in IE).
Example :
www.lesangesnoirs.fr
wordpress 2.5.1
php5
utf-8 encoding
sames files used, except the use of fr.wowhead.com instead of
www.wowhead.com
Kinder.

everything seems fine with SMF 1.1.5, but there's a bug, common items ( white color ) are invisible on white background. Itemstats package solves that problem, common items links have black background. I've tried to play w' CSS on my site, but it seems that wowhead.js overrides my CSS settings no matter what.
Help me, please ?

Has anybody been able to get this working with
IcyPhoenix
? it is based on phpBB2, but it has been modified to much for me to follow any of the examples here. For one, there is no bbcode.tpl.
I can get the mouse over part working, so if i have a link to a wowhead item like
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30312
the mouseover works. but i would really like to get the bbcode part to work so i could just put infinity blade into my post so i dont have to go look up the link eveytime i want to put something on my boards.
any help with this would be nice.
edit: I do have a test boards if people want to play around.

Has anyone had luck implementing this using e107? Preferably using tags and the name?

Ok, good news. I was able to implement this into my ICYPHOENIX install. I used the bits of code from the phpBB 2.x.x MOD install
I got solution for using Horris script in phpBB2. With this script you can use following bbcode with tooltip, URL and item quality color:
Megaepic
So, follow this steps:
1. Download phpBB Wowhead mod by Horris
http://mattmayers.com/download/phpBB_wowhead_mod.zip
2. Then, unzip and copy the whole wow/ directory to the root directory of your phpBB install.
3. Next, for every template you want this to work with you have to edit the overall_header.html file and add the following lines right before the </head> tag...
<script src="
http://www.wowhead.com/widgets/power.js"></script>
<script src="wow/jquery-1.2.1.js"></script>
<script src="wow/wowhead_linker.js"></script>
4. Open /forum/includes/bbcode.php
Find:
'codeblock' => array(
'nested' => false,
'inurl' => false,
),
Add After:
wow' => array(
'nested' => false,
'inurl' => false,
),
Find:
//TEX
if($tag === 'tex')
{
if($this->is_sig)
{
return $error;
}
$html = '<img src="../cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi?' . $content . '" alt="" border=0 align=middle />';
return array(
'valid' => true,
'html' => $html,
'allow_nested' => false,
);
}
Add After:
// Wowhead Tooltips
if($tag === 'wow')
{
$html = '<a href="wow/wowhead_wrapper.php?item='. $content .'" class="wowhead">' . $content . '</a>';
return array(
'valid' => true,
'html' => $html,
'allow_nested' => false,
);
}
Hope this works for you. I still have one bug to work out with mine right now, and that is white items dont show up because i have a white background... but i saw a fix for that here, so i will try to implement it yet.
Also, i would really like to figure out how to change the tagged text to show what the actually item text is. as an example, if i tag yellow it has the tooltip for Bold Yellow Shirt, but the text stays as yellow, but turns white like it should. i want it to change to Bold Yellow Shirt.. still working on it...

For the e107 users, here's a cross link to Septors post on how to get this working.

Thanks Septor. ;)
