Guild leader gives legendary bow to rogue with 2 hunters present
Return to board index
Post by

The guild leader of Vicarious, a pve guild on Area 52 gave the Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34334
) to Analogkid, undead rogue of the guild. (
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Area%2052&n=Analogkid
).
How do you feel giving a rogue the legendary bow which is more suited for hunters but is good for rogue and warriors, should one of the hunters got it? Discuss.

this isnt news.......... it happens OFTEN armory rogues in the top guilds killing KJ... Youll see

The news part of it is that there were two hunters in the raid who could have used this as a massive upgrade.

see this thread
here
do some more research as well. The rogue that got the bow had been with the guild through all of TBC... the 2 hunters...only members for maybe a month.
And as I said in the other thread... the drop rate on that bow seems to be rediculously high for a legendary item. the hunters will get their bow.
*further more (after doing more research) youll see that there are only 3 hunters in that guild. 1 of them has the bow, the other 2 both have the Golden Bow... so to say it would have been a MAJOR upgrade is not quite accurate.
oh.... and all of this coming from a fellow hunter...

Oh yeah, forgot you have to be in Sunwell to have an opinion on looting rules and class priority on loot.

As it is, wouldn't giving the bow to an active, raiding hunter to increase his DPS be a better contribution than giving the bow to a rogue who doesn't actively use the bow to DPS? Unless, of course, your guild supports ranged rogues. Having a Hunter with the bow may be the DPS you need to down <insert WotLK raid boss here>

Since there'll be months of raiding till WotLK, the bow has a high probability of dropping again. Wotlk bosses are not a concern here.

High probability doesn't ensure a drop. Let's say WotLK release is about 16 weeks away (that's a high estimate), and that the bow has a 14% droprate (armory tooltip say 3-14%, so 14% is the highest possible). Then you still have a (1 - 0.14)^16 = 8.95% chance of not seeing the bow drop
at all
until WotLK arrives, assuming you down KJ every week.
Realistically, the chance of not seeing it drop is probably even higher, but it depends on WotLK release date, the actual droprate and on whether you actually down KJ every week right until WotLK launch.

3% is still a 40% chance to see it again. There's never a guarantee to see an item drop but that bow is not the Rivendare mount, the chances are still high to see it again.
Anyway, I don't really want to comment on the decision itself, but the argument saying they are shooting themselves in the foot for wotlk progression is still aberrant, even if the bow doesn't drop again.

I'm not seeing any major problems with this now, but it's the kind of thing that likes to erupt into a flame war. The moment it does, this topic dies. Just a friendly reminder.

Well the bow will quickly be surpassed by WotLK epics, so it won't affect them much (except perhaps in silly stuff like the race to reach level 80 world first/server first/guild first/before your dog).
But the "what's the big deal, it's just gonna drop again" thing doesn't work since it might very well not drop again.
Of course, anything that happens with loot from the last boss before a gear reset is in a sense irrelevant (what first kills are you gonna use the loot for when everything is down?), so it really isn't that big of a deal in a min/max uber raiding sense. Still seems like a ridiculous way to treat people, even if they are somewhat new to the guild.

This weapons is nothing more than a
stat stick
for a Rogue, while it would have been a
marginal
upgrade for a Hunter...
fix'd

everything drops again at some point. EVERYTHING.

this
Thori'dal
vs.
Golden Bow
(which all the hunters have)
really the only difference is the arrows stat and the attack speed. Not sure that thats a "ZOMG THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT" argument... especially with arrow damage affecting Steady Shot in Wrath.
... oh and...
why does everyone else care what some guild did with loot they received after killing a boss they worked on?

when did ANYTHING not designated class specific in the tooltip actually become class specific?
