I've got it. I've figured out a way to get all of these guys on the forums to be happy. I'm going to start a new video series:
Project Mouthbreather
Basically, it's gonna be five 300 lb. Nerds who sit around in a semi circle and run Heroics together, while they're doing the heroics they will be discussing the INTRICATE details of every spec in the game, as well as the benefits of weapon speed, hit rating, every tanking ability in the game for all classes, while stuffing their faces full of donuts, pizza and ironically Diet Cokes and Bud Lites. Unfortunately, the episodes will have to be 20 minutes long to accommodate for all the AFK breaks they will need to take for Asthma attacks, Explosive Diarrhea, and Doritos Spills. Afterwards, they will all wipe the sweat from their brows and give each other a flabby, smelly high-five. There will be no jokes, no random moments, and in generally no human element. There will just be math and d20's.
Great, now I just gotta find willing sponsors.
...oh wait...screw it, nvm.I hear that it's impossible to be funny
and
good at the game, as they use seperate areas of the brain. Also, when the brain activates the proper pathways leading to good gameplay, it has the unfortunate side effect of slowing your metabolism.
That, or you're no better than the critics. /flips coin
The problem isn't that the people criticizing the series have severe problems with fun, humor, and educational videos. The problem is that these videos have questionable value. I don't mind people who play casually and have fun doing what they do. I do mind when people come into groups with bad specs and improper gemming, cause wipes, and waste the time of everyone in that group. That's not fun for
anyone
.
Am I saying imitators of what they find in Project Lore would cause that? Not exactly. But the little mistakes do rack up, and playing well isn't hard to do with the wealth of information out there.
Why wouldn't a site that's about information want their video series to offer truly useful and accurate information?
/tosses another coin in
There's my two cents. Take it for what you will.

Surprisingly, Sindel probably one of a few people who give adequate negative critique ( unlike "omg what a noob go respec frost" or "omg noobs dunno what class can banish") even tho i disagree with him/her.
The group used different specs and different strategy to kill bosses.
People actually fail to understand that even tho strat was different they
DID KILL THE BOSS
which is a main
GOAL
Also, even if you see these videos as bad for explaining instances, relax. Just relax please.

about the banish stuff, it's not that shameful to not know a lock can banish. The only people who need to know which class does which CC are the tanks, because they are usually the "markers" of a group.
Dr. Dark obviously never tanked before (and never played a lock either), so it's not that bad that he didn't know (or forgot) that the banishing class was warlock...

The point I was trying to make is that would that video be WATCHABLE? I think we've all seen enough "How to:" videos of the various bosses in the game in poor resolution set to VERY bad Death Metal/Techno. Honestly this feels like a breath of fresh air. They're not the greatest, no. Their strategies for Laj and Warp Splinter were terrible and they seem to not understand a lot of the boss fights. However, that is what a site like WoWhead is for.
I also think this helps to break the stereotype that seems to persist (at least on my server) that you need to be in full t6 with full enchants to even have a chance at heroics, which isn't true. What these videos show is that people "with bad specs and improper gemming (and might I add a less than desirable group makeup sometimes)" can go into a Heroic instance, complete it and just have fun. Which is what the games are about. Lets leave the math and junk like that to the guide-writers and database sites like WoWhead so we can just enjoy the game. The fact is that, to my knowledge, there's not been a merger of the two even
attempted
. Most people in raiding guilds know all too well the divergent conversations and humor that go on all the time until something crops up that demands concentration and strategy (listen to them during the boss kill of Warp Splinter, for instance.. that's the sort of thing I'm talking about, when they pause the comedy and focus.)
The problem is exactly that there is a site like Wowhead for that information. They also happen to be featured heavily on said site.. so doesn't that make things that much more questionable? (For what it's worth, their Warp Splinter strategy is actually fine - the only change I would have made would have been to tank him closer to the bridge to reduce the chances of the fearbomb going awry.)
There's room for humor and near-perfection in a video. It just takes the right people to put it together and set their minds to it. I think the guys at Project Lore
are
capable of it, they just have to take a little time, set aside any deep-seated phobias of math, and learn why, for instance, you do not cast pyroblast as part of your primary DPS rotation - and hopefully teach this to everyone else. :P

Perhaps this "technique" would increase the mana intake from heals, but a smart Paladin tank remembers to bring mana pots and healing pots. I never rely completely on heals for regaining mana during a fight. If I get as low as 1/3 or even 1/2 of my total mana, I use a pot. That and I also run Judgement of Wisdom/Seal of Righteousness a majority of the time. I never find myself in dire need of mana in heroics, or 10/25 man raids. If you turn your back just for that, it's your funeral. Do with it what you will.I turn my back often on Heroic trash and very frequently on normal trash (and sometimes bosses) once I've divined how capable my healer is at keeping me alive through the occasional spike (usually, once you warn them, they don't mind too much.) All it takes is a mouse flick to turn and take a swing or two then turn back. Mana pots often just don't cover as much as you may need, or aren't always up when you want them.
If you never find yourself in dire need of mana, there are a handful of causes.
a) You're not overgearing it so much that you rarely take hits.
b) Your DPS is killing it well before you've had to go through a couple of rounds of consecrate (very likely).
c) Your threat generation is high enough to forego some of the more expensive tools.
All three of them are fine, but sometimes your PUG DPS just isn't quite as well geared, or your threat generation is suffering a bit for some reason. Those are the cases where a quick turn away, take a swing or two, turn back can really help. Threat capping your DPS is
never
a good thing - if your healer has the mana to spare, give them a little extra room to kill faster.

The leader of the group is the perfect example of the common rogue.
He dont know *!@# about anything of the game
"... is it priest or warlock that banish?" ... comon...
and the other guy... "does elemental shaman are considered DPS?"
/facepalm
I find it rather humorous in the video when he does it
I found it rather sad :/

I just noticed the Project Lore 5.6 episode hit. Interesting stuff. Recaps of the full episode make it interesting, but a few questions to the new lady host:
1. Where in the heck did she come from? Cubicle? Nice, but what else? She plays a Hunter, I assume. Max level or not? Stuff like that.
2. Episodes are becoming more fluid. The first episode seemed shaky, but over the last few, it's become very entertaining. Definately liking it.
3. Love the marketing campaign. Despite not wanting to pay for a new monitor (I really need new ones, though >.<), it looks awesome. Hope it keeps the Project Lore thing going!
Overall, it's been pretty solid. Kudos to all!
