http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Khadgar&n=BogahHello, this is my character and my guild is at 5/6 SSC 3/4 TK 2/5 MH 3/9 BT. My DPS is around 950 fully buffed up. Is that enough DPS? My DPS cycle is IS/MF/SFx3.
I'm kinda dissapointed since I see mages/locks with the same gear do around 1100-1200 DPS.
My wishlist:
Starfire Idol
Cowl Of The Grand Engineer / Hood Of hexing
Corrupted Soulcloth Pantaloons
Footpads Of Madness
Ring Of Captured Storms
A shadow priest (we don't have any in my guild)
I'm kinda low on crit but my spell haste makes up for it /me thinks.
Let me know what you guys think about my gear, DPS and DPS cycle please.

Regarding IS : mana efficient is only usefull when you are going OOM. Once you have enough mana regeneration, the only parameter is damage per cast time, and IS ends up being lower than both SF and MF. Once you reach that point, there's no reason to keep it into your rotation anymore : MF is the highes DPCT spell you have (ie first priority cast) and you use the second best (SF) as a filler in between dot applications.
(see the
annex part of the moonkin guide for values of where IS gets caught up by SF)
Regarding not wanting +hit objects : you are hit capped at the moment, but there's still optimization possible with regards to how you reach it. You have to look at best in slot items for pure dps (no-hit) and bosses (with hit) and see where the difference is biggest. Getting +hit items and discarding them once something better comes along is normal. They allow you to discard other items and replace them by better "pure dps" items.
Taking the +30hit the chest gives you into account (ie considering you'd be at 120 without them), they are still barely 5 dps over pure dps ones. Same for the shoulders vs Hatefury Mantle. Replacing the boots or ring to get more +hit will allow you do those swaps and they will largely be beneficial to you.
And anyway you will be over the hit cap considering your current setup, since any helm you'd aim for will have a small or big amount of +hit (T4, T5, Void or Malacrass) + the Glyph of Power that'll add another 14 +hit. A restructuration of where your +hit comes from will be in order :p
For example, the Fused Nethergon Band is so much better than the Ashyen's gift that it's not even funny, even with going a bit over the hit cap because of it (with your setup, it's a direct 13 dps increase without changing anything else). And equiping that would allow you to take the hit gem out of the Kodohide helmet, which keeps you right at the cap and allows you to gain pure dps stats on the helmet.
NB : Of course if yo'ure waiting for the Ring of the Captured Storms or the Ancient Knowledge one, then that's something different.
MH/OH : Battlestaff vs Hammer of Judgement and Fetish of Primal Gods is 5sta, 7int, 6hit, 46 crit vs 17haste, 26dmg. And those are easily attainable, if you add the Chronicle or something like that the difference gets bigger. Or you can go for the Najentus dagger if you consider that you'll get your +hit through other items, either way it'll still be better, especially if you devalue the +hit because of being over the cap.
That being said, you know best what's available to you (or could be in the short run) and thus only you can plan your future gear. We can only give ideas of items that are worth keeping some time.
(for example i waited to get T5 shoulders instead of buying badges ones, because they were quite near in value and i knew i wanted to go for the 4T5 bonus).
As for usefull tools to see where you want to go, you might want to play with Rawrr or the moonkin spreadsheet to compare which items are best to use to reach the cap.
