What is this 3x xp thing, and where can I read about it. My girlfriend and I are leveling mages, and we're both at level 23 atm... if we could speed up the process faster... I'd enjoy that.

We could keep speculating about how such a system might work all night if you think that's fun, or we could actually look at
the official Recruit-A-Friend FAQ
and see how it actually works.
Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?
No, only when you are partied with a character on the linked account and both players are present when slaying the monster or completing the quest. Also, if the two characters are not the same level, only the lower-level character is given the experience boost.
Do normal experience rules apply?
Yes, if a monster is trivial to either player, no experience boost is given.
Does this promotion only apply to new subscribers? Can I recruit someone using a Scroll of Resurrection?
This promotion is valid only for new accounts created using an Authentication Key from an email invitation sent from the Recruit-A-Friend webpage. Therefore, you cannot recruit someone who is also participating in the Scroll of Resurrection promotion.
So Voco's plan won't work, Wowgeek got at least most of the details about the system right, and marrakoosh's story about triple xp while being power leveled is a fabrication.

It won't work because "if a monster is trivial to
either
player, no experience boost is given", grouping with a level 70 will completely eliminate any possibility of receiving the triple experience bonus.

Speaking of speculation, how about making sure you're correct before putting out false information? The only fabrication is your statement that isn't backed up with experience.
From someone who has just levelled two chars to 53 in a few days using recruit-a-friend, let me tell you the facts.
You absolutely, without a doubt, CAN use a level 70 to run the two linked chars through an instance and get triple xp. It has worked in every instance I've done. If you'd like, I can post a screenshot of the characters getting the bonus xp in my chat bar as proof.
What people don't seem to get here is that, even with a level 70 grouped in an instance, the people who are level-appropriate are getting experience. Go try it and see. Hence, when you're grouped with your linked account at the same level, that xp is tripled, even with the 70 in the group, as long as the mobs are not trivial to the people being powerlevelled. Example, two linked level 34's in Scarlet Monastary being run through by a 70 (the 70 doesn't need to be linked account, just the two people being powerlevelled). The two linked lvl 34's will get triple xp for every kill.
I almost didn't post, but I can't stand it when people presume to know the facts when they haven't even done it.
Voco is 100% correct, and it does work.
Your example is not the same as the previous example given. The 70 is NOT one of the two linked accounts in your example. So yes, since the mobs are not trivial to EITHER LINKED CHARACTER, both get triple XP.
What they discussed was using your pre-existing 70 to boost a recruited friend instead of leveling an alt with them, which won't work because the mobs are trivial to you, and therefore YOUR LINKED FRIEND does not get triple XP.
Learn to read.

I am doing this right now, as we speak. My friend got a second account and made a Druid to go with my Hunter.
You do not want whoever the 70 is to refer the account because you will not get the exp boost on that toon.
His druid is level 48 with a /played time of 20 hours.
How did we do this?
My friend has a 70 Paladin but a Mage works great for this also because of the AOE...
You go into each of the listed instances below and pull as much as you can handle and AOE the mobs down.
SFK - Level 12
SM (Arm / Cath) - Level 20
ZF or BRD - Level 40
With those two, pick your poison.... In ZF you get casters that run and then start casting again. In BRD you get netted in the first room. If you clear the hallway around the arena, there are no mobs that net though. Clear that hallway, reset the instance.
We picked BRD after doing a couple ZF runs, and I have been getting between 170k and 200k Exp/Hr based on Titan Panel's mod.
Strat - Level 50
I would suggest doing Strat all the way to level 60 and not going to Outlands at level 58.
1. If you follow this process, you will be severly undergeared
2. You will still gain more Exp/Hr in Strat then going to Outlands at 58
I refered an account to my friend. He already plays the game, but has two computers. His main character is a level 70 paladin. So my character and the refered got the exp while his main ran us through all the stuff.
I hope this helps.

It sounds like the workable option is that account A invites new player B and both are leveled by a level 70 on account C. Players A and B get the 3x experience although it is reduced by the presence of a 70 in the group but should still be significant overall (it's reasonably effective without the experience bonus anyway).
I guess the optimal choice might be to have the level 70 player invite player A, have them pay for a full account so the level 70 gets a mount and then have player A invite player B.
This may not help Voco very much as you would need to buy new accounts for the two returning players instead of reactivating their existing ones.

Exactly. I reworded mine, but this might be a better wording for it.
Me and my buddy worked out a system. He's been wanting a second account to dual play and get things done quicker, while I wanted the extra levels and mount. So I refered his new account to get those, while his Paladin runs us through everything. :)
He gets a 60 Druid out of this... while I get a 60 Hunter, and free levels to my Mage until level 60 plus a mount.
