What is now the fastest way to level from 40-60? Questing or grinding?

I started playing WoW little over two years ago. At that time, it was fairly simple to quest your way to level 30 (Alliance side, anyway, I have never played Horde). It was a bit slower from 30-40 but not bad. Back then, 40-50 was a bit of a nightmare it seemed. The quests were spread out and often required alot of legwork. Experience received were nothing to write home about either. So it was quicker in my case to grind most of 40-50.
Many things have changed since then. Many more quests have been added and experience given has been increased and experience required has been reduced.
I have just hit level 42 with my protection spec paladin and I am finding the quests to be slow. Dustwallow was nice but now that I have hit Tanaris, I don't know that I have the patience to run through all these quests. Of course the pirates out in the Cove are are given to do questwise.
Previously I leveled a warlock and druid through these levels and it was faster undoubtedly for me to grind. Now that things have changed, is it faster to quest?
What about Jame's Alliance guide. Has anyone tried that and is it better than just grinding mobs?

invite yourself and start with 2 level 1 characters that will zoom to lvl 40 and pass right on by like that going up at 3x the speed of soloing wooohoooo. For serious, it works.

Has anyone tried
Jame's Alliance guide?
I specifically linked the 40-50 section. I am wondering from the experienced people if it is a good guide for fast leveling.

Good plan. Supposedly this new guide by Jame has been updated to remove all grinding. I guess I will try it out tonight and see what I can get from it.
