Like all other races there is one that is not equal. This one is the Blood Elf. All 9 other races can be this class but the Blood Elf. I assume you know what I'm talking about. I was fine with it when the reason was it maxed out classes already but the release of Death Knight just proves not so. All races get to be Death Knights and only almost everyone gets to be Warriors. It just makes sense for Blood Elves to be allowed to be warriors. Even Gnomes and Night Elves are! Undead and Trolls! So don't pull the lore card! It's time for equal treatment! It's not like we're asking for them to be shaman or druids! So please Bliz! Show some mercy!

Humans can't be hunters. Gnomes don't have a healing class. Boo hoo hoo, blood elf.

And dwarves can't be mages, and you could roll a dwarf mage in the beta! :(

What bothers me is the justification that Blizzard used as to why gnomes can be warriors, saying that every race is capable of picking up a sword and shield and standing on the front lines to do battle.
They are putting in Harley-esque motorcycles and flying carpets. There isn't much that doesn't fit into the developers vision of what WoW should be it seems, as long as the cash keeps flowing in.
I think gnome warriors were only thrown in there for the sheer hilarity of seeing a tiny character tanking a gigantic boss. Same goes for the helicopters and motorcycles and flying carpets. Blizzard's developers have a sense of humor...You should look into getting one of your very own.

So 'sheer hilarity' is a good excuse to put in features but fluidness and equality for all races isn't?
Fluidness and equality? Please...Start going down this road, and eventually every race has the option to be any class they want, and then the racial traits will be the next thing to go.
But, since we're discussing it, why can't humans be hunters? The human zones are filled with animals, and vendors who sell food, so where would it come from? Does Stormwind hire dwarf hunters to keep them supplied with Wolf steaks? It makes absolutely no sense that any society or civilization could make it that far without the ability to obtain a good portion of their dietary needs, yet there's Stormwind Castle, complete with meat vendors.
If picking up a sword and shield is a basic skill every race should have, then hunting for food is even more basic. Humans (on this planet, anyway) learned to hunt first, thousands of years before they went to war.

To be fair, if you look in Blood Elf society, you find that it's a society entirely motivated by excessive self interest. Blood Elves don't DO the 'fodder' thing, because it's not in the nature of Blood Elves to sacrifice themselves and to risk bodily harm for the sake of others--at least not unless they believe themselves to be so powerful that they can't be harmed, as in the case of Blood Knights.
Obviously an army cannot exist without SOMETHING to stand on the front line to be fodder, but the impression I've gotten is that Blood Elves typically use arcane constructs (like the
Arcane Guardians
in Silvermoon), or summoned creatures (like the mage's
Water Elemental
) for these purposes. Even in earlier Warcraft games, high elven units were never close combat fighters. Warcraft 2 restricted them to
Archers/Rangers
(and current Blood Elves
can
be hunters), and Warcraft 3 cast them as
Priests
,
Sorceresses
, the
Blood Mage
hero, and
Spell Breakers
. Of those, the Spell Breakers are the only ones that even use melee attacks in battle, and Spell Breakers are a strange special case. Obviously it breaks gameplay balance to have a playable class that destroys caster types and is utterly useless against non-caster, so "Spell-Breakers" makes a terrible playable class for WoW. They got around this restriction by including them as the
Guardian
units for major cities.
All this is just my personal opinion, of course, and I'm aware that I'm trying to justify (from a lore perspective) a decision that Blizzard made from a game balance perspective. But frankly, I think the justification for allowing gnomes to be warriors is flimsier than the justification for NOT allowing Blood Elves to be warriors.
Edit
: Forgot about
Dragonhawk Riders
, but since all their abilities are based on the dragonhawk I didn't see much reason to worry. :P

Yep
Also, on note about the Tauren/Draenei rogue- It goes against the two races ideals. Neither of them like the idea of how cheap rogues are. :P

It absolutely does
not
make sense for Blood Elves to be Warriors. They are lithe and willowy, not very physically strong. They can be Paladins because Paladins use magic, something that the Sin'dorei are immensely adept with. Warriors though rely only on brute strength to use their attacks. A Blood Elf trying to wield a giant sword or axe without the use of magic to help him would end up being disastrous.
No. No Blood Elf Warriors.
