*Morphs into a random shadowstep rogue*
Time to get new weapons! But what weapons are best for me?
(Three huge think bubbles appear!)
Hmmm, I could buy the Maces, they're just as good as any other weapon for ShS, and they will allow me to be flexible with my PvP builds. I can respec Cmace or AR/Prep if I chose.
Hmmm, I could buy the Swords, they're just as good as any other weapon for ShS, and if I do, or am considering starting PvE, they're some of the best weapons in the game for Cswords!
Hmmm, I could buy the Fists, they're just as good as any other weapon for ShS,
and I love they way they look and don't mind the inferior flexibility!
Added note:
For min/maxing as shadowstep, a mace/sword/fist in MH is all equal. But, for your offhand a 1.4 speed offhand dagger is a viable choice. A faster speed for more natural poison procs, and a cheaper shiv cost make it appealing. But the amount of damage gained from a shiv of an offhand sword/fist/mace compared to a dagger can be considered noticable, and for only 1 energy. Both are good options for competitive shadowstep rogues.
But for humans getting expertise using maces or swords should probably stay away from it.

I've seen plenty of pvp rogues use an OH dagger. Like pete said, a faster dagger will give you more poison procs and cheaper shivs. And since your OH is generally just for poisons and shivs, it doesn't make all that much of a difference in PvP.
I myself just went with dual S2 swords, since I may end up going back to combat swords to get to 80 when wrath comes out, but I did enjoy ShS leveling from my mid 60's to 70.
Either way, ShS gives you the freedom of using whatever weapons you want, as long as you stick with the good ol' slow MH fast OH rule so use what you like.
