The Lich King did not discriminate when it took various races for its death knights. I'm not seeing a lore issue here.
Also... Lore = Fiction. When the writers of the fiction choose to further it along (like allowing blood elves to be paladins), they do it, and thereby write new lore. It's not like they're rewriting other peoples' works.

Oh joy, another thread about DK's. How original.
And your wrong about Tauren rogues. There ARE tauren rogues. Just not in WoW. There IS lore and other Warcraft games outside of WoW.
If you don't like the DK's, no one is twisting your arm forcing you to play one.
However, we are getting our arms twisted to have to look at the deadly gnome deathknight called Loldkdk.
Go back to performing felatio on Blizzard.
Play on an RP server

Certain races aren't allowed to be certain classes for more reasons than just lore. EI: How stupid would a giant male Tauren look trying to stealth around and sneak up on people... Same goes for Dreanei.
Allowing all races to be a Death Knight, however, makes sense lore-wise and logistically.
They let orcs, so clearly size is not a factor.

I'm just going to copy-past exactly what I said in another thread on the same subject.
...considering that playable Death Knights are of the unwilling variety any argument on the races culture can be refuted by the simple fact that no playable Death Knight willingly choose that path (some of the original Death Knights did, but that is irrelevant to playable ones). Even Draenei Death Knights are justified since there is a roughly 2-year period where a Dreanei could have journeyed to the Eastern Plaguelands, been killed, and subsequently raised as a Death Knight.
As for Gnome Death Knights. Some people dislike them because they look silly. I challenge anyone to find the slightest shred of lore evidence to prevent Gnome Death Knights from existing.

I believe the new phrase is "nuking the fridge" in reference to the new (and awful) Indiana Jones film. Sorry...

Sneaky bastards...
I myself am a huge lore nerd and really by allowing DK's to be any race they're sticking to the lore even more. During the second war when DK's first made their appearance they were risen corpses of human knights so they had to be Humans. During the third war only the homelands of the Humans and Elves were invaded by scourge so DK's were only Humans and Elves. The occasional Dwarf popped up (look at the Four Horsemen) but that was how things went. During the third war the gnomes were locked away in gnomer dealing with their own problems, the orcs hauled ass over to kalimdor, the trolls, tauren, and night elves were already on kalimdor, and the space cows hadnt even crash landed yet. But during the time between Vanilla WoW and WotLK the scourge and the 10 races have been running around all over the place so really one of us could have fallen anywhere on azeroth fighting the undead and been risen as a DK. Even Gnomes.
I think I'll level serious gnome DK to 80, spec him frost with a little blood and 5 unholy for the dodge and start tanking along with my gnome warrior who's already tanking bosses in hyjal d everywhere below.
When Blizz allows us to hit any level beyond 100 I'll then say they nuked the fridge.
Freaking gnome haters...
