Been messing around a bit to find a decent MM build(I love aimed shot and cheaper shots in general, what can I say)
And I thought of something like this, a mix of BM(for pet to keep agro) and MM to do damage

Actually what you're doing is a BM build, you're just starting off in MM.
As to your spec...it all depends on what you want to do. I don't know much about BM pvp builds (I only PvP'd as full marks) but I used
this build to level with, and
this is the cookie cutter raid spec. A few key points for a BM build...
- Improved Revived Pet - you WANT this talent. If your pet dies, this makes it much faster to resurrect it, and your pet has more health for when that mob aggros you 5 seconds later.
- Improved Mend Pet - you WANT this as well. Removing those pesky poisons and slowing effects keeps your pet alive and pumping damage.
- Spirit Bond - Pretty much a lackluster talent. At level 70, if you have 11k health (assuming pvp gear), this would return 220 health every 10 seconds. You can get more via bandages. I'd skip this talent (trust me, I used to have it, respecced out of it, I dont miss it at all)
Also, I'm currently levelling as marksmanship, but unless you go survival your pet should do just fine holding aggro. I rarely pull off my pet unless I'm trying, but I hit pretty hard (I think giving my pet the extra AP from TSA really helps).
This is my current levelling build (I'm 49 atm, almost got my marks tree filled up) which is nice for PvP and PvE...I miss the multi-shot talents but since a hunter probably level in gray gear with no spec I don't think it'll hurt. Concussive Barrage is lackluster I know, but it cracks me up every time I see it proc (because of that fact) so it's worth it to me.

In all honesty, for leveling, you
could go unspecced, naked, and still hit 70 :P (you really shouldnt but it is possible)
it really doesnt matter too much, gear/talents just make the game easier and lots of fun.
now, to answer your question, BM is a lot preferable to MM for lvling, because it makes the grind sooo much easier. You get your own personal tank (that actually holds aggro!), you get an extra stun (which helps out immensely if used correctly) and you're able to send your pet into a threat-generating frenzy.
the problem with some of the MM at low levels, is that it's not really as important or efficient as other talents (except for
Lethal Shots)
Imp Mark and
Efficiency are mainly raiding talents.
Imp Conc shot and
Aimed shot are more pvp-oriented.
And you really dont crit enough at lower levels to gain the full effect of
go for the throat.
now, im not exacly a professional yet, but my lvling spec was pretty much:
40 getting Bestial Wrath
50 Adding in Beast Within, Frenzy, and Serpent's Swiftness.
From here, you chose where you want to spend your points.
Again, just a suggestion, you play this game how you like, and if you prefer MM or SV to BM, spec it!
