What do you guys think about the change of BL?
Now
Beacon of Light
The target becomes a Beacon of Light to all targets within a 40 yard radius. Any heals you cast on those targets will also heal the Beacon for 100% of the amount healed.
35% of base mana, 40 yd range, 1.5 sec cast
vs
Before
The target becomes a Beacon of Light, healing all party or raid members within 10 yards for 2000 over 15 sec.
35% of base mana, 40 yd range, 1.5 sec cast
I think both have their uses, but the new version is more paladin-ish: Strong heals on fewer targets, and unfortunately - no HoT. Looks like all of us will be getting that Glyph of Flash of Light (greater glyph I assume).

no, it'll work like this (i think):
paladin makes himself a beacon
paladin heals someone for 3k holy shock
paladin is healed for 3k also
looks very nice indeed

Exactly. Though I am gonna miss the HoT/ AoE heal though :(
Also remember that it's the amount healed. So over healing a target that's at 100% will give you nothing if you're the beacon. Still, very cool idea.

You make the MT a Beacon for all targets 40 yd around him. Every heal those targets receive will also heal the Beacon (MT). Rather situational, but it looks good for fights where you are
a) Raid healing. Just make your tank a Beacon and all the raid heals you throw will heal him too.
b) A fight where MT and OT both take heavy damage. Make the OT Beacon and keep heal spamming the MT - it will keep both up.

I can't decide which version I like better.
With the old version, I loved combined aoe and hot aspect of it. Seemed deliciously overpowered (depending on coefficients).
With the new version I can still see having an issue keeping the dps up from mass aoe damage, but at least I would no longer be letting the all important tank drop down in life while doing so. I also love and agree with how it feels more like a uniquely paladin spell than the old version.
At the very least, despite the tweaking, I'm just happy they're still looking to give us a way to spread our heals around a little better.
Edit:
You'll have to excuse me for being lazy and not finding it myself, but what is the duration of the new version? Same 15 secs as before? I hope not. Seems way too short for a 1.5 sec cast and 35% base mana. Would be nice if it was 1-2 mins. I could dream for 10 mins (maybe it would be a new blessing, although I'd hate to have a reason not to cast kings on tanks come wotlk) but I think it would be way OP at that point.

Another thought: Does this shift paladins into more of a raid heal role rather than MT healer? Beacon the tank, and then while we spam FoL on the raid instead. It almost seems a waste to heal the beacon/tank when you could be getting twice the amount of health healed per cast. And if we're MT healing, then we wouldn't really be using this ability anyways.
Of course, there will be times when the rest of the raid isn't taking damage so the spell is useless and you're only casting on the beacon/tank anyways.
Its still a great ability, but now sheath of light has gained a little more weight. Ugh, as much as I was looking forward to saving a prot spec (if they are still looking to allow easy swapping between two specs) for when I might want a change of pace, I might instead have to have one spec with beacon of light for 5man/raid healing and then the other with sheath of light for MT healing.

ok, i went and did some testing:
the spell lasts 60 seconds.
the heal from the beacon effect can crit, unsure if this is based on if the original spell crit.
while the spell is active you effectivley heal two targets at once.
the heal from the beacon effect is actually slightly bigger than the base heal in most cases, unsure as to why.
it can allow a paladin to stand 75 - 85 yards from a target and still heal them (if they run in to reapply beacon).
it is currently bugged so that the beacon himself can be twinhealed (i assume its a bug; could be to make us mega MT healers).
i will field further questions about it if you want.

when you heal yourself, do you get a % of the mana back due to spiritual attunement?
just wondering, considering it might be an "external" heal

Why do people keep asking this? Wishful thinking? Get real, not going to happen unless its a bug.
Also this will not heal any overhealed amount. But it it can crit ONTOP of normal crits seperatly based on your crit rateing. Meaning if you crit heal for 6k, then it has your spellcrit chance again to crit for 9k.

I believe the beacon heals count as a self heal, meaning it won't loop...

Yea, the Bacon heal doesn't count as "paladin" heal. So it doesn't meet the requirements of the spell.
