Go to Best Buy or any other place that sells computer things and ask for their opinion. Then go to another and ask the same thing. Compare and pick.

You can also go the cheap way and just by a normal house fan and crank it to the highest setting and keep it aimed at the laptop.
But thats a cheepo's opinion.
I don't think it's cheaper, but rather the lazy man's way out.
It also won't work very well. Laptop stands and such with fans suck or blow air through the internals of the laptop or assist the internal fan of the laptop by keeping the air circulating. A normal fan would just cool the outside of the laptop but the internal components wouldn't be affected and would still overheat.
Best bet is getting a professional opinion. I have one for my laptop I don't have it with me and can't remember the brand right now, however, when I can I can give you the brand. It works well for me, laptop actually stay cool to the touch instead of being really hot.

That's true, FaaR. But the burning pain of a laptop on your thighs isn't an enjoyable one.
To the OP: If you're worried about failure and instability, your laptop should be able to handle it. If not, do as FaaR said.
If it's just too hot on your lap, use your case/sleeve or just a piece of paper to prevent pain.

where the heck will you put the mouse? o.0
I know someone who puts the mouse on the laptop under the keyboard. She says it works well.
