What about casual players? All this would do is make hardcore players more...hardcore.

btw, if you invest that much time in the game i hope u can see your characters and where they are at as an accomplishment in and of itself.

This would create widespread botting....

Plus, Who do you know that has 8333 days of play time on a single char?
How about 2084 days of play time?
Or even 417?
Even the botters would have to wait more than a year to get it. This is just not logical. Yea, it would get people to keep paying to be a demigod or w/e, but it's impossible that someone would spend 23 years logged into WoW just to get Demigod status.
The Blue would be 1.14 years and the purple would be 5.7 years. It is unlikely WoW will last 23 years from now

Rewarding time spent in-game is just as useless as corporate promotion based solely on length of employment. Just because you've been there 4 years doesn't mean you deserve anything special; it could be that for those 4 years you've been the laziest POS in the company and actually lowered productivity.
To paraphrase Terry Pratchett, sometimes "4 years' good behavior" just equates to "4 years' not found out".
I'm all for rewards, but not based on something that you could actively bot to get. Instead, base it on player achievement.
Oh, wait ;) They're adding in achievements in WotLK. Not items necessarily, but recognition of accomplishment.
All that being said, I would
love
the ability for each class to complete some sort of difficult quest line that gave them a high-powered (but not god-like) item that they could themselves name (within the same limits as character names... which isn't much, unfortunately).

Too bad 20,000 have barely passed since the release of WoW, and 50,000 haven't even come close to passing since this game came out.

Paperweight on the W button = win. I achieved legendary status for being the moron that walked into a wall for 200000 hours.
