Kara concern and advice

Last night our guild was running Kara and something unusual kept happening.
I pulled aggro from the bosses off our warrior/paladin tanks.
This has never happened before so it caught me off guard. My AP buffed it around 1640 and my crit is 21.8% which was 4% lower than the MM hunter along with us. The other hunter was a MM also but his crit rate is somewhere around 10% and he kept spamming me that my crit was too high. I know he is error so I ignored his spams.
Two differences this run compared to the other 6 runs we have made.
This was the first time with a Paladin/tank combo. Normally we have 2 warriors tanking. The other item was I upgraded only 2 pieces of equipment
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24259
and
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30046
which boosted my AP nicely as well as hit and crit.
Other than those 2 items I did nothing else different but of course the finger was pointed at me. We are a fun guild so no hurt feelings etc. One other thing I did notice was that between the hunters, I was on top of the DPS damage even with my Vals bow.
I am not running the 3:2 shot macro just the usual steady/auto shot 1:1. Also running with Aspect of the hawk on although I am wondering if Viper would be better?
So I suppose I should be running a threat meter since my gear is getting better?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

?
Yes, yes, a thousand time yes. You should have a threat meter because you are playing in a group not because of what gear you have. Even if you never look at it keep one running so that other people can see your threat and at least try to warn you when you're doing something wrong.
Even if you had an impossibly perfect tank who generates far more threat than you ever can you should still want a threat meter to tell you when they have actually hit a target more than once and it is safe for you to start shotting without your first shot critting and pulling aggro.
You also want a threat meter because not exceeding the tanks threat enough to pull aggro is not your only concern. Karazhan has several fights where both the first and second highest threat targets will be tanking the target. Without a threat meter you have no way of knowing if you have overtaken the second tank. I suspect this is what happened to you the other night but since you didn't mention which boss you were fighting I obviously can't tell.
Finally you want a threat meter so you can choose to use feign death preemptively rather than reactively and so you don't have to waste time using it when it isn't necessary. If you feign death at 90% of the tank's threat and it is resisted you can still slow down your damage and be safe. If you feign death after pulling something off the tank and it is resisted you may have just killed all of your friends.
I am not running the 3:2 shot macro just the usual steady/auto shot 1:1. Also running with Aspect of the hawk on although I am wondering if Viper would be better?
The 3:2 macro should give you slightly more total damage assuming you are able to hit it quickly and have low latency (also a ~2.1s or faster attack speed which should be a non-issue for a BM hunter). Try both and see if you get significantly better results with one or the other (use an addon like Recount or combat log parser like WoWWebStats to check your total damage and actual ratio of steady:auto shots).
You should prefer Aspect of the Hawk when possible and expect to need to switch to Viper temporarily when you're low on mana or if you need to save up mana for a burst of damage later.

The boss in question was the first one - Horseman?
And what threat meter is a good one?

Fighting Attumen is a pretty straightforward encounter. Pulling aggro probably means that either you exceeded the tank's threat or that you hit the boss shortly after Attumen mounts Midnight (phase 3) which resets his threat list.
Omen
is the most popular threat meter in my experience(

) but there are other options.

Just and update.
I installed Diamond threat meter (thank you for the advice) and I love it. We went back into Kara and I never pulled aggro once. Even when I was full tilt steady shot. The difference was our tank. I forgot to mention that the tank that night was not our usual tank. This time our usual tank was in charge and obviously generated enough rage that I was not an issue. He did whisper that the other tank was a little ungeared and inexperienced and maybe that is why I was gaining aggro. In either case I love the threat meter and when I see the warning a quick feint and I am back into action.
Thank you for all the information.
