Sounds ridiculous enough to be false.
You need to go through a
Test of Faith.

We get a new thread that says this once every few weeks. Fortunately they're slowing down.
Wowhead is a member of the
ZAM Network, and became so in June of last year. ZAM, which includes several other websites (among them
Thottbot), is owned by a larger company called Affinity Media. The reason for the outrage is because at one point, Affinity Media ALSO owned infamous gold-sellers IGE.
Affinity Media sold the entire IGE section of the company off early last year, before Wowhead decided to join the team. However, because the transaction was private, and between two privately held companies, no official announcement was made. As such there were a lot of people who didn't know this when Wowhead made the announcement that they were joining ZAM.
Naturally, because gold sellers are the ultimate evil in the MMO community, there are a lot of people who still think we're lying when we say we have no affiliation with gold sellers. To make things MORE complicated, Affinity Media is now the subject of a lawsuit involving the activities that the IGE section of the company was involved in back when it was owned by Affinity Media. As the owner, Affinity Media is liable for the things that IGE did at that point, so the fact that Affinity Media is being sued has made a lot of people leap to the conclusion that Affinity and IGE are still linked.
I hope that puts any remaining concerns to rest.
