Ok, so i got recount loaded tonight and started testing the premade characters on the training dummies in dalaran.
Three characters were used:
1. Feral Druid, primarily talented towards tanking (lacking some dps talents, but I picked up most)
2. Retribution Paladin
3. Unholy Death Knight, again talented towards tanking (all 3 tier 1 tanking talents picked up at the cost of impurity and desecration)
For those who dont know, dalaran currently has two different types of training dummies - one with standard level 80 non-elite mob stats, and the other with level 83 raid boss stats (It's called heroic training dummy, but generally heroics dont have level 83 targets... anyways, not a huge difference).
NOTE: I'm not putting exact numbers here, but rather average DPS/damage ranges, since luck factors a lot into damage output with the characters using pvp gear and not raid-dps oriented stats.
Feral Druid
First Rotation:
Mangle -> shred to 4-5 CP's -> Savage Roar
Second Rotation:
Mangle -> shred to 4-5 CP's -> Rip
Note: Tiger's fury was used every cooldown (30 seconds), feral faerie fire was kept on the target. Was buffed with mark of the wild only.
Level 80 non-elite training dummy:
DPS Range: 1300-1400
Spike DPS (using cooldowns): 1500-1600
Highest crits: 6-7k
Level 80 elite boss training dummy:
DPS Range: 1200-1300
Spike DPS (using cooldowns): 1400-1500
Highest Crits: 5-6k
Retribution Paladin
Rotation:
(Seal of the Martyr)
Crusader Strike + Divine Storm each Cooldown
Judgement of Wisdom every 15 seconds (to keep mana up)
Note: Was buffed with blessing of might only.
Level 80 non-elite training dummy:
DPS Range: 1200-1300
Spike DPS (using cooldowns): 1500~
DPS after mana expended: 1000-1100
Highest crits: 5.5k~
Level 80 elite boss training dummy:
DPS Range: 1100-1200
Spike DPS (using cooldowns): 1400~
DPS after mana expended: 900-1000
Highest crits: 4-5k
Unholy Death Knight
Rotation (cycle 1):
Icy Touch -> Plague Strike -> Blood Boil -> Blood Boil -> Scourge Strike
Rotation (cycle 2):
Scourge Strike -> Scourge Strike -> Scourge Strike
Note: unholy blight was activated once per minute (1 minute hidden cooldown, likely a bug), rune strike was used whenever it became active, and excess runic power was dumped with death coil. I'm unsure whether recount was counting my ghoul's damage as part of my own - since this is the first time I've used the addon. Horn of Winter was kept active, as was bone armor - No other buffs used.
Level 80 non-elite training dummy:
DPS Range: 1300-1400
Highest crits: 3-4k
Level 80 elite boss training dummy:
DPS Range: 1250-1350
Highest crits: 3-4k
According to the addon, all three classes/specs had very close DPS. The paladin really fell off after running out of mana (which only took about 20 seconds tops, mana seems to be a severe issue for ret still, even with judgement of wisdom and replenishment) - but had a lot of frontloaded damage. The druid seemed easiest to keep going, though lack of crits made rip a bit difficult to keep up as often as I'd have liked.
The Deathknight was the most chaotic of the three - I had a much more 'complicated' rotation, and it was a bit frustrating having to pay attention to the debuffs on the target just to see when I needed to re-apply frost fever / ebon plague. It wasnt so much an issue with unholy blight running, and if it werent for the hidden cooldown it wouldnt be nearly as difficult. Of the three, the death knight had the lowest crit damage potential - instead of having a couple of high-damage abilities, we have a lot of abilities that do a little damage... it equals the same DPS in the long run, but makes the class much less fun to DPS with.

I think we can all agree (if you've been watching Ret pallies,) that Ret is a thoroughly BROKEN talent tree at the moment, it's like having a rage bar that once you've used, doesn't fill up again. So yeah, legendary burst damage, but after that, kersplat to your DPS.
Well pallies all have this new ability called "divine plea" which acts as a self-only short duration innervate. Over 6 or so seconds it restores anywhere from 40-50% of your total mana.
So... as long as you're set up right, you can last around 1 minute before you're completely screwed for mana use =P
As for the DK DPS, you mentioned that UB was on a 1 minute hidden CD, what's it on normally? WoWhead doesn't have any data on that... Is it something that you can keep up constantly? That might skew your numbers a little in favor of DK if that's the case.
It lasts 20 seconds. Before this build, it had no cooldown - so yes, you could keep it up constantly. Right now i'm only getting about 176 DPS out of it though (it ticks for around 176-180 once each second). So yea, that could effect DPS pretty heavily once it's fixed, unless the cooldown is intended. Overall DPS might go up a couple hundred with it.
I understand about the lower critical damage potential, I mean, isn't unholy meant to be that way inclined anyway? Supplementing critical damage with more DoT's like Unholy Blight? Would it be possible for you to conduct another test for us, just using a DK and have a go at each of the three specs to see if we can get some kind of difference with their overall DPS?
Sometime tomorrow I"ll try this, it's 3 am right now >.<
