Don't listen to people like the OP, he is just using this thread to show off.
You have a similar level of gear to my rogue who doesn't do many instances, so if you have spent ages trying to gear up I feel sorry for you! Try to replace your opportunist's gear first, it is more for PvP so that is probably what people are noticing and commenting about. However, your gear is easily good enough for some of the easier heroics like hellfire ramparts, auchenai crypts, old hillsbrad etc. You might find the harder heroics like magister's terrace, shattered halls, steam vault etc. a bit too much for you at the moment. Generally speaking, the lower level the dungeon is in normal mode, the easier it is in heroic mode.
Doing dailies is good in some ways as you get extra badges and there's usualy lots of people on lfg wanting to do them. However the downside of this is a lot of people who pug for the dailies are the people who you are talking about, i.e. they think you need to have leet gear to do heroics. To this I would say just be selective, if the daily quest is a hard one maybe do a different heroic instead. That might turn out to be a more efficient way to get your badges of justice.
If your not in an active PvE guild and have to pug, the best way to go about it is just keep your friends list full of people who were not only succesful in finishing an heroic with you but who also did so without commenting on your gear! You may find some people who like to do the same heroics that you do too.
If you enjoy PvE, stick to what you like, do the instances that you like and are good at. It takes time to gear up but time spent with negatively critical random people is not time well spent. If anyone presumes to tell you what you can and can't do then tell them to stick it up their epic wossname.
