Arms will get the benefit of having Imp. Slam, Imp. MS, and ER available in the same build. How good will the damage be with the potential of a full Slam rotation without a totem?
I for one plan to take Wrecking Crew but leaving out Blade Storm, 6 seconds of WW doesn't seen as good as another Slam rotation, or an Execute. By saving that one point I can get Cruelty, Imp. Bloodrage, and Tactical Mastery at level 70.
Even my pet peeve has been addressed; adding some "To Hit" penalty to Titan's Grip makes perfect sense.
There seems to have been a movement to make each tree viable for all phases. I hope it works. I can;t make any complaints until I get a go at the new trees. That will truly tell the tale

According to elitist jerks, prot is our best DPS tree.
Obviously something has gone terribly wrong.

Imp. Slam? Yes, it
used
to be an imba ability before pre-WotLK. Now it sucks totally. When I cast Slam the swing timer just stops and waits for my slam to stop casting.
The swing meters do not query the server and relay you swing time, they measure when your last attack landed and attempt to approximate your next attack based on your buffed swing speed. Slam has always paused the swing meter, just the meters previously didn't show it because there was no need to as it would reset once it finished casting anyways. The reason most don't show a pause at the beginning of the slam cast is because it's often more difficult to code that sort of functionality in than to just let it slide.
The ability to begin a slam cast "before" your white swing is an issue of latency, not because of any special slam mechanics, in actuality the old slam suffered the exact same penalty, except that it would reset your attack if timed too early in addition to causing you to lose 0.5+ seconds of swing time.

Fury is a bit lackluster in the current beta build (8926). Prot is AMAZING and will only get better when Damage Shield becomes completely functional. I have been having a blast goofing off with a dual axe ms spec. Between random executes, rend proc'ing overpower, and mortal strike I use a yellow attack almost every GCD. I'm not sold on the arms 51 pointer but everything up to it looks good.

Protection will dominate all other specs for usability & utility. Once it is perfected, we'll be fully capable of making zombies cry "Uncle" in Naxxramas.

...Or things are still in Beta.
Really, in a Beta - play with specs, try to break things, and report everything you find on official wow forums. That way, things get noticed, and addressed.
Its defiantly fun to play around and realize that 0/30/41 is an awesome DPS spec, but its (almost) certainly not what they had planned.
Could someone link this 0/30/41 build? I've been looking and can't find it.

On the one hand, I started this game and and hope to continue in Arms.. on the other hand, though I don't think ill of my fury brethren, I never felt DW was for me.. and so I was shocked, and maybe a little guilty, to find I LOVED the current abilities of a protection warrior. I tank, sure.. and I'm an Arms hybrid. But this is the first time I've ever considered a pure prot build or something like one. Even with DK's around, I feel devoted warrior tanks are still going to be in high demand, especially considering the surprising things they bring to the table. It's opened my eyes a bit.. nothing wrong with that, right?
Still, I too may have to consider what to do if they don't fix Arms well enough in release. Maybe they just got the 'easier' challenge out of the way first? Arms has some potential.. but a long way to go. Until then, I'm happy as prot. in the beta.

WotLK is still in beta, like people have been saying. If Blizzard intended for Protection to deal the most damage, then they have some serious issues staff-wise. My advice would be to just wait until everything gets finalized. Many things are still being tweaked and changed as we speak, so save the tears until they're done.
